Job Title: Staff Accountant

Summary: Catalyst Construction is looking for a Staff Accountant to work closely with the Corporate Controller in support of the finance and accounting function. The Staff Accountant will perform daily accounting tasks, ensure accurate financial records, and assist with the monthly and year-end close process.
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Assist Corporate Controller with monthly financial close, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and monthly financial reporting packet
- Reconcile monthly bank statements and prepare compliance reports for external reporting
- Reconcile bank register and report daily cash balance
- Assist with preparation of quarterly financial reports for external parties
- Assist with year-end financial audit with external accounting firm
- Assist with year-end financial review for affiliated entities with external accounting firm
- Assist with year-end audit of 401k Plan
- Assist with credit card expenses, review and post credit card transactions to general ledger, and reconcile monthly credit card statements
- Assist with tax compliance including multiple states’ sales and use tax, payroll tax, corporate tax, etc.
- Manage and maintain Fixed Asset Software
- Participate in department and project financial review, including preparing and maintaining Work in Progress (WIP) schedules, assisting with review and collection of Aged Accounts Receivables, and producing comparative monthly financial statements
- Assist accounts payable with invoice coding, entry, and check matching
- Assist project accounting with pay application process and lien waiver collection
- Provide support to collecting, saving, and filing Certificates of Insurance
- Perform basic filing and clerical duties including copying, scanning, and faxing documents
- Attend meetings and trainings as assigned
- Complete projects as assigned
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in the accounting field; construction or related-industry experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required; CPA or actively pursuing CPA preferred
- ComputerEase accounting software experience is preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrates high level of Emotional Intelligence when dealing with all levels of the company and clients
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
- Ability to effectively manage time, multi-task, and pay close attention to details
- Self-motivated professional with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Regularly required to move, sit, and bend for various hours throughout the day
