Description

Position Summary:

The Bank Loan Officer identifies, acquires, and grows new relationships through the origination of first mortgage loans, Home Equity Lines of Credit, and new depository relationships for Coastal States Bank.  Prospective customers will be primarily self-sourced or come from external referral sources, including Centers of Influence.   

Essential Functions: *

  1. Develop new business and personal banking relationships by generating mortgage loans, Home Equity Lines of Credi, deposits, and other banking services within the Bank's target market.
  2. Partner with market leadership to develop the sales strategy and to lead business relationship efforts in a defined territory. Implement a disciplined contact schedule to promote client satisfaction, retain existing clients, attract long term profitable customer relationships and become the clients trusted financial partner through needs-based solutions.
  3. Cultivate prospects independently through customer referrals, networking, and participation in professional organizations, social contacts and relationships built in the community.
  4. Proactively solicit business from referral sources: realtors, builders, CPA’s, attorneys, personal spheres of influence and affinity sources.
  5. Build internal relationships with other departments to enhance the overall banking relationship ensuring the customer’s business objectives are met.
  6. Demonstrate knowledge of conventional, government, jumbo, portfolio loan and HELOC underwriting guidelines.
  7. Administer AUS (Automated Underwriting System) and analyze results.
  8. Manage existing loan pipeline.
  9. Demonstrate knowledge of processing, underwriting and closing procedures as well as federal lending regulations governing real estate lending.
  10. Successfully interact with the lending staff, underwriters, and processors to aid in meeting closing deadlines.
  11. Complete all mandatory training sessions as required by management.
  12. Comply with bank procedures and follow regulatory, operational and security guidelines.
  13. Follow all other instructions and perform other job-related duties, at the discretion of the Regional President.

Qualifications


Preferred Education/Experience/Software:

Bachelor’s Degree in related field or 2-5 years of experience within the business, accounting or financial services industry is preferred.  Two to three years of Mortgage Loan Origination and/or sales experience.  The ability to cross sell bank products with an emphasis on relationship banking is required.  Knowledgeable in a wide range of Microsoft Office software applications.  Proficient with applicable bank and mortgage systems.  

 

Training:

Responsible for the timely completion of all required compliance training such has BSA, Information Security, and other job specific training as assigned.

 

BSA Compliance:

Complies as required with relevant Bank policies and procedures related to BSA, including capture of required CIP, Customer Due Diligence, and Beneficial Ownership data as well as informing management and compliance staff of potential suspicious activities or elevated risk related to specific clients.

Additional Requirements: 

The responsibility to acquire and maintain the required knowledge of State and Federal Banking regulations and policies. 

 

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Professional office environment. While performing the duties of this position, the team member is regularly required to operate standard office equipment.  The team member is frequently required to communicate and perceive.   The position is primarily stationary and not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions and requires sedentary work such as exerting up to 10 pounds of force 5% of the time and a negligible amount of force approximately 95% of the time.
