Vice President, E&S Property Line Leader
Location: Hybrid from New York City, Parsippany NJ, Philadelphia, or Wilkes Barre, PA

Overview
The VP, E&S Property Line Leader is responsible for the strategic leadership, development, and profitable growth of the Excess & Surplus (E&S) Property portfolio. This executive role requires deep expertise in E&S underwriting, particularly in single-risk and layered/shared property products, and a strong command of market dynamics, catastrophe risk management, and underwriting operations.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the business strategy for the E&S Property line, aligning with organizational goals and market opportunities.
Oversee underwriting performance, product mix, rating strategies, and catastrophe budget deployment.
Ensure profitability and compliance across all underwriting activities.
Lead and manage underwriters, including those with delegated authority. Personally underwrite complex risks when needed and approve high-impact underwriting decisions.
Collaborate with product teams to develop new forms, rates, and underwriting protocols. Drive innovation in underwriting tools and systems.
Build and maintain relationships with key brokers and trading partners. Represent the company externally and travel as needed to support business development.
Lead post-event loss evaluations and ensure prudent reserving practices.
Foster a high-performance culture, mentor underwriting talent, and support succession planning.
What We’re Looking For:
- 10+ years in E&S Product Management or related roles (underwriting experience a plus)
- Deep understanding of E&S Property insurance, including market dynamics and regulatory considerations.
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on execution
- Familiarity with tools like PowerBI and Excel (training available)
Salary Range
$200,000-$300,000.00 USD with performance based bonus potential
The annual base salary range posted represents a broad range of salaries around the U.S. and is subject to many factors including but not limited to credentials, education, experience, geographic location, job responsibilities, performance, skills and/or training and market conditions. The higher end of the applies to roles based in higher cost-of-living areas.
