The Fire Protection Coordinator at the Savannah River National Laboratory will provide guidance and direction in administering and implementing fire protection programs and compliance measures. The position focuses on ensuring facility safety through monitoring systems, conducting assessments, and resolving technical issues in accordance with Department of Energy (DOE) and NFPA standards.

Responsibilities

· Program Administration: Administer and implement fire protection programs and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards, including NFPA Codes and DOE standards.

· Monitoring and Assessment: Monitor and assess operations-related evolutions in facility systems or equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. Perform periodic reviews and assessments of facility systems.

· Compliance and Issue Resolution: Lead teams in resolving technical compliance issues and identifying trends in operations to develop recommendations for improvement.

· Documentation and Reporting: Prepare detailed presentations and status reports for management. Prepare manuals and other documents supporting the technical effort.

· Training: Conduct training for operations personnel on new systems and equipment and fire safety procedures.

· Coordination: Interface with site Fire Maintenance and build relationships with various groups within the SRNL facility, including operations, maintenance, R&D and construction, to support overall site operations and project goals.

· Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to all SRNL professionals. Strong Administrative and Communications skills with a background in CONOPS.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement: 

  • High school diploma and 8 years of experience. 
  • Associates Degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Science, or a related field and 4-5 years of direct relevant experience. 
  • Complete the onsite Fire Protection Coordinator qualification.
  • For ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, US Citizenship is Legally Required.
