The agency supports over 19,000 low-income and no-income individuals annually with integrated services. MHALA achieves impact in the areas of mental and physical healthcare, homelessness and housing, supported employment, and wellness and financial services, with special programs for Veterans and transition-age youth.


MHALA also provides training programs for individuals joining the behavioral health workforce and for the larger community around mental health issues.

Program Coordinator (Temporary)


35 hours per week / $30.00 - $31.00 per hour


(The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.)


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: This is not an exhaustive task list, and other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate or necessary by the supervisor or program director.   • Actively participates and provides new and current staff training as it relates to their knowledge of the Housing for Health program and its statement of work
  • Coordinates outreach and engagement to homeless individuals by working with staff, Program Manager, Coordinated Entry System (CES), the LA County Department of Health Services (DHS), and Los Angeles County Development Authority (LACDA)
  • Provides support to staff as they outreach and provide services to homeless individuals. Services include but are not limited to case management, housing support, life skills training, work training, and employment placement, along with linkages to health, substance use disorder treatment, mental health services, and other community resources
  • Maintains, oversees, and monitors the collection of service coordination outcome data and maintains all records and documentation (progress notes) and reports needed for program compliance and accountability in accordance with MHALA standards and funding source requirements.
  • Provides support to the Program Manager to ensure that staff are provided with the support and training needed to maintain data integrity
  • Participates in all staff meetings and retreats as assigned
  • Participates as an active member of the management team, involved in discussions relating to the team’s quality improvement plan and safety committee as needed or assigned
  • Provides intensive case management services to assigned members
  • Provides member support as assigned where needed and as positions become vacant
  • Collaborates with other MHALA teams or leadership staff as needed or assigned
  • Provides timely information and feedback to the program manager or site director with regard to emergent staff, team, or member issues
  • Knowledgeable or able to learn to navigate and understand reporting requirements of data entry systems such as CHAMP, HMIS/Clarity, and Care Logic

Education and Experience (one of the following combinations is required):

  • High School Diploma or GED + minimum 5 years of significant, hands-on experience in rehabilitation services or housing services for disabled and/or homeless persons. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a human service or related field + minimum 3 years of significant, hands-on experience in rehabilitation services or housing services for disabled and/or homeless persons. 
  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) or Counseling Psychology (MA/MS) + minimum 2 years of significant, hands-on experience in rehabilitation services or housing services for disabled and/or homeless persons.  

Other Position Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide coordination to a diverse team who
  • Knowledge of local community resources.
  • Proficient in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Flexible work schedule to include some nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to relate positively and enthusiastically to a wide variety of people.
  • Driving with current class C driver’s license, a vehicle for transportation, proof of valid automobile insurance, the ability to be insured by MHALA liability insurance are conditions of employment
  • TB clearance and re-testing every year are conditions of employment
  • COVID-19 vaccinations or booster shots are not currently required, however this may become a requirement in the future. Failure to abide by any agency policy, including those relating to a vaccine or booster shot may result in termination of employment
  • Employment verification directly from three (3) past employers within the most recent 7-year period
