Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate successful experience tutoring, coaching, mentoring or instructional support

  • Experience providing individualized academic support to high school and/or college students.

     

  • Proficiency with technology and online academic support tools.

  • Ability to effectively engage individuals from diverse educational, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, STEM or related field from an accredited college or university.

Utilizes basic advising knowledge, theory, and practical experience to serve as an academic liaison for students to identify academic and career goals, select appropriate courses, and plan for degree attainment. Manages small, routine projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish one on one relationships with students to support academic success and facilitate an environment that encourages a sense of belonging.

  • Works with students to provide academic coaching and advocacy, including assessment of academic needs

  • Support students with improving time management, creating an organizational system and developing study skills

  • Monitors student performance and resolves student issues with the implementation of academic resources and/or programs.

  • Develop workshops and small group activities on issues that negatively impact their academic success.

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
