Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members, and we are committed to transparency in our pay practices. The estimated annual base salary range for this position is $125,000 - $165,572. Individual pay within this salary range is determined by several compensable factors, including performance, knowledge, job-related skills and experience, and relevant education or training. This role is also eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP), subject to eligibility criteria.

Are you passionate about Process Engineering? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Facilities team. As Manager-Process Engineering, you’ll be crucial in ensuring continued innovation and supporting our diverse team.

The Manager-Process Engineering plays a vital role in managing Process Engineering functions within various departments at S&C.  The responsibilities of the role span across various aspects of engineering design, coordination, testing and project management.  The role collaborates closely with the operations team, ensuring manufacturing processes' successful implementation and improvement, along with leadership to identify and plan for future enhancements.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engineering Leadership: Manage and lead a team of process engineers, mold design engineers and assistant managers to provide high-quality engineering support to the operations team.  Prepare and implement tactical plans to meet function objectives, including yield and scrap targets. 
  • Continuous Improvement Activities: Oversee a variety of continuous improvement activities with a focus on process, equipment, manufactured products and automation.  Guide other department leaders to run improvement activities that contribute to greater functional goals. 
  • Production Equipment Commissioning: Effectively manage and lead a team of engineers and assistant managers to specify, install and commission new production equipment and fixtures.  Partner with the production leadership to identify and plan for future commissioning needs. 
  • New Product Process: Oversee cross-functional collaboration projects with production operations, design and other engineering teams to drive innovative new product development.  Lead the team in architecting robust processes around new product design, ensuring seamless integration of safety, quality, cost and strategic objectives throughout the development lifecycle, supporting assistant manager leaders with project challenges as needed. 
  • Leadership & People Management: Lead, inspire, and develop a high-performing team.  Role model appropriate and professional workplace behaviors, address/mediate conflicts to restore harmony and support a positive, healthy and inclusive workplace culture in accordance with S&C's mission, vision, values and guiding principles.  Manage departmental administrative team member processes including but not limited to recruitment, induction, vacation, management, performance reviews, performance improvement plans, and workforce/succession planning.  Proactively establish, monitor and hold team members accountable to clear responsibilities and accountabilities, provide ongoing performance feedback, both positive and developmental, address performance gaps in a timely manner, recognize and reward achievements and initiate decisions for corrective actions and terminations where required. 
  • Industry Insights & Thought Leadership: Proactively monitor and stay abreast of industry trends and production equipment technologies to inform operational goals and provide recommendations for long-term insights.  Consider company objectives when planning for new technology implementation. 
  • Budget Support: Manage the department budget, ensuring projects are delivered within budget and identifying resource and equipment costs for projects. 
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with all applicable company policies and rules. 

 

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

Job Requirements (To select this job at a minimum you must have the following):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Material Sciences or a related area of study. 
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in process engineering and manufacturing. 
  • Possess excellent knowledge of both RIM (Reaction Injection Molding) and APG (Automatic Pressure Gelation) processes. 
  • Ability to collaborate with a variety of different stakeholders, from customers to production workers to executives in both a production plant and office environment. 
  • Great leadership skills within a manufacturing environment, with an ability to lead, guide, motivate and delegate to deliver results. 
  • Great critical thinking, organizational, planning and project management skills, creative problem-solving when obstacles arise. 
  • Rounded interpersonal skills to establish meaningful relationships built on mutual trust and respect, navigate and resolve conflict, moderate behaviors and foster collaborative working relationships amongst a diverse audience. 
  • Great communication skills, (written, verbal listening and presentation) able to liaise with internal and external stakeholders at all levels from leadership to support staff and present to executives, managers and team members. 
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use and analyze data to drive informed decisions, problem-solve difficult issues, and leverage data and learnings to drive continuous improvement. 
  • Proven success partnering across teams, creating effective partnerships at all levels and collaborating at an operational level. 
  • Adapts to change and different ways of doing things quickly and positively and finds ways to accomplish tasks, even when faced with challenges.  
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision. 
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to travel as required. 

 

Major Physical Demands:

Sitting-Frequently required to remain in a stationary position and perform desk-based tasks for 8 hours at a time approximately [5] days per week

Walking-Occasionally required to walk moderate distances multiple times each day while performing a FAT or on a job site

Manual Dexterity-Frequently required to use hand-eye coordination to control both hands and arms for a full range of motion to operate equipment/machinery/power tools/office productivity equipment

Observation / Eyesight-Frequently required to observe details at close range, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to differentiate between colors

Communication-Continuously required to talk and hear, in person and by phone/conference calls

Travel-Occasionally required to travel (up to 20%) and work extended hours when necessary. Required to travel overnight and infrequently, on weekends. Infrequently required to travel internationally.
