Warehouse Operations and Safety Supervisor

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Warehouse Operations and Safety Supervisor to join our team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, safety-conscious, and capable of leading operational initiatives that enhance productivity and maintain a safe work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work a flexible schedule as required by business needs, including modified shifts.
  • Coordinate and lead regular warehouse safety meetings.
  • Train and supervise MHE operators, ensuring safe and proper use of equipment; maintain associated training records.
  • Oversee box truck and van drivers, enforcing pre-trip inspections, on-road safety protocols, and routine vehicle maintenance.
  • Utilize Azuga software to monitor and manage driver performance.
  • Plan and assign labor effectively across various warehouse departments to meet operational goals.
  • Operate within the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to create transfers and manage inventory movement.
  • Act as the primary liaison with vendors, ensuring all equipment maintenance and certification requirements are met.
  • Serve as a key holder, responsible for the secure closing of the facility.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct and document safety training, inspections, and incident reports; assist with insurance claims and loss reporting when necessary.
  • Own and manage the Furniture Handling Program in collaboration with Distribution Center management; maintain and improve training materials.
  • Lead the 5S Program, ensuring all departments uphold the Sustain phase and continue to drive improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support operations and safety excellence

 

Qualifications


 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong safety orientation with a proven record of compliance.
  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional, approachable demeanor with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent computer skills; strong in math and reading comprehension.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills with the ability to train and hold others accountable.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of safety management experience in distribution centers and retail environments.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with RF inventory control and WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in a distribution center of at least 150,000 sq. ft.
  • OSHA 30 Certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel required.
  • 5S experience strongly preferred.
  • Furniture industry experience is a plus.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to exert up to 25 pounds of force; occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions, including extreme temperatures and high humidity.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift for extended periods as necessary in a warehouse setting.
