Porter-Gaud is an Episcopal, co-educational day school serving more than 1,000 students in grades 1-12. The O'Quinn Schools of Porter-Gaud serve an additional 600 preschool students from age two through kindergarten. The O'Quinn Schools are seeking energetic, fun and dedicated assistant teachers to join our 2's team! Position Overview:
Assistant teachers work closely with the lead teacher to prepare and teach daily lessons, provide a safe environment for children to learn and play, and follow DSS and school guidelines and expectations. Duties include maintaining rosters and tracking sheets, assisting with redirecting behavior issues, supervising play time, and working collectively with fellow teachers and parents.
Position Details:
Schedule: Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)
Minimum Requirements
Education:High School Diploma is required
An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field is preferred.Experience:At least 1-2 years of experience working with young children in a preschool or early learning environment is required?Experience in an independent school setting or play-based learning environment preferred.Skills and Competencies:
- Demonstrated understanding of developmentally appropriate practices for children ages 2-5
- Ability to support lead teachers with classroom management, instructional activities, and supervision.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with both children and adults.
- Collaborative and flexible approach to working as part of a teaching team.
- Commitment to fostering a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Dependability, patience, and enthusiasm for working with young children.
Salary: Commensurate with experience
