Job Details:

Position Overview 

The Student Marcom Generalist works with University Unions staff to write, edit and proof marcom copy (e.g. email, newsletters, social, web, internal comms); cover events with photography and video; “table” to promote Union events and services and to boost social followers; and assist in the gathering of information and metrics with the goal to reach as many students as possible and improve the student experiences.

The worker will attend student events, so the work schedule may vary each week. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Produce creative ideas for marketing, communications and advertising. 
  • Generate creative ideas for social media content and campaigns with teammates.
  • Create, edit and proof content for internal comms, marcom emails, web, advertising and   signage with an emphasis on AP style, tone and marcom best practices 
  • Provide strong project management in the execution of tactics
  • Capture photos and videos of student events and produce live and post-event content for social media usage
  • Assist with the development and execution of a long-term social media strategy.
  • Engage and interact with audiences while maintaining the brand’s voice 
  • Other duties as assigned that support the efforts of the University Unions communications strategy 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Excellent writing and grammar skills with an attention to detail. Knowledge of how to write to a style guide.  
  • Embraces feedback and the process behind marcom plans
  • Creative thinker who effectively articulates ideas 
  • Self-starter who takes initiative on individual and team projects 
  • Highly collaborative  
  • Organized, deadline driven and able to manage projects with overlapping deadlines 
  • Attends regularly scheduled team meetings and training sessions 
  • Has an extensive knowledge of student life at UT 
  • Photography, graphic design, content and video skills are a plus
