As the Shipping Lead, you will play a key role in ensuring that all outbound shipments from Smartpress' facility in Duncan, SC are processed accurately, efficiently, and on time. You’ll lead a dedicated team within the shipping department, oversee daily operations, and collaborate with internal teams to maintain high standards in packaging, carrier selection, and communication. This role requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and a commitment to delivering excellent service both internally and externally.

Shifts available: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

A variety of these traits will help land you this job if you have:

  • High school diploma or GED 
  • 5+ years of experience in a shipping department (preferred)
  • 2+ years of experience in a lead or supervisory role (preferred)
  • Familiarity with FedEx Ship Manager and UPS WorldShip (preferred)
  • Experience with transportation management software (preferred)

On top of that you must:

  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and listening skills
  • Sit at a desk and use a computer for extended periods of time
  • Move frequently throughout the plant and office areas
  • Lift up to 50 lbs independently
  • Stay organized and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate well with cross-functional teams

In this position, you will:

  • Lead the shipping team and oversee all outbound shipments
  • Process shipments via FedEx, UPS, and internal systems
  • Ensure proper packaging to prevent shipping damage
  • Select carriers based on best practices for cost and service
  • Accurately capture dimensions and weights for all packages
  • Complete bills of lading for outbound shipments
  • Communicate shipping information to project managers
  • Support other warehouse teams as needed
  • Work with the Shipping Manager on staffing and cost decisions
  • Maintain clear, effective communication with all team members
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
  • perform miscellaneous projects and complete various tasks as requested by management.
