Job Purpose:
The Registered Nurse, RN at Aspire Living & Learning plays a vital role in ensuring that nursing procedures for care and medication administration programs, medication documentation meet all regulatory and Aspire Living & Learning standards. The RN will conduct initial and refresher Medication Certification training and annual trainings for nursing procedures as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and licensing requirements having to do with nursing care, medication storage and administration at registered sites.
- Provide program oversight, training and audits for nursing care and medication administration.
- Provide state-mandated training for staff who administer medication to non-self-medicating, supported individuals, as needed
- Act as Aspire’s liaison with state departments that oversee nursing care, medication storage, handling, and administration.
- Develop internal procedures and practices to support compliance with state regulations having to do with the storage, handling, and administration of medications at registered sites as well as nursing care protocols.
- Acts as Aspire’s liaison with pharmacy and state officials
- Oversees Medication Certification structures within both day and residential programs; conducts system reviews and formal audits; observes staff passing medications; provides in-house training as necessary;
- Oversees implementation of supervisor and managerial education modules;
- Conducts post review/audit training to help ensure that compliance issues are addressed;
- Monitors Therap health record as it relates to nursing compliance;
- Follows up with MOR’s by conducting on-site observation and re-educating staff; completes related documentation for personnel files;
- Conducts training on compliance and MORs as needed;
- Special projects as required.
- Cultivate a positive and productive workplace atmosphere to enhance team morale and productivity.
- Participate in and complete training sessions as delegated by management to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to the role.
- Conduct training as required and assigned.
- Provide On-Call duties as required and assigned.
- Perform any additional job responsibilities assigned by supervisors or team leaders to support the organization's smooth operation.
- Accept reassignment as required.
Qualifications:
- Current, valid RN license
- Current, valid state certification to train mandated medication administration course and/or meet state requirements to become a certified trainer., if applicable.
- Experience with adults with developmental disabilities/dual diagnosis preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Nursing care and Med Administration regulations; ability to identify training needs and develop and deliver appropriate training based on needs; ability to conduct Medication and nursing audits; excellent training skills;
- 5 years’ experience working with Medication Administration procedures and regulations preferred
- 5 years developing and delivering Medication Administration training preferred
- Must have satisfactory background checks
- Valid driver’s license and safe driving record
