RN - Physician Practice Assistant - Hagerstown Heart - As Needed
Mon. - Fri between 630am - 430pm (shifts vary).
Meritus Hagerstown Heart is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated and experienced cardiology team. This position will primarily support the stress testing lab and triage of patient phone calls, with opportunities to assist in cardiac rehabilitation coverage as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical assessment skills, experience in cardiac patient care, and a passion for providing exceptional service to patients and families.
Primary Responsibilities
- Perform and assist with cardiac stress testing, ensuring patient safety and accurate data collection.
- Triage patient phone calls, providing timely clinical advice, medication guidance, and follow-up coordination under provider direction.
- Support cardiac rehabilitation services, including patient assessment, monitoring, and education during exercise sessions.
- Administer medications, perform diagnostic-related nursing duties, and monitor patients for changes in condition.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, advanced practice providers, and fellow staff to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record system.

- Multiple types of Holter monitoring
- Multiple types of stress testing, including Cardiac PET/CT
- Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) and Coronary Stenting
- Pacemaker Management
Education – AA in nursing required. BSN preferred.
Experience – Minimum of one-year clinical experience.
Licensure/Certification – Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. Current BLS (CPR) in compliance with policy. Current BLS (CPR). ACLS and PALS required in the urgent care setting.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities – Ability to apply the standards of the professional nursing practice with compassion and empathy. Basic computer skills required. Must have high level of organizational and communication skills.
