The Senior Production Engineer is responsible for well and flowline activities within the framework of Talos Energy Inc’s policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will support the Deepwater Gulf of America West Asset Team and be responsible for day-to-day production-related activities, including but not limited to:
- Daily well, flowline, and umbilical surveillance
- Monitor and analyze well performance using Nodal analysis modeling (PROSPER) and field performance network modeling (GAP)
- Identify production enhancement and de-bottlenecking opportunities
- Dry tree artificial lift design and surveillance
- Flowline maintenance – flushing, pigging, and plug remediation
- Plan and execute routine through-tubing expense/capital projects, such as slickline work, artificial lift installation/re-design, and batch/squeeze chemical treatments
- Well rate guidelines for drawdown and flux management
- Plan and lead well reviews with asset team members and extended teams
- Dry tree well and subsea well/flowline startup and operating procedures
- Flow assurance procedures for hydrate, paraffin, and asphaltene mitigation and remediation
- USV/SCSSV testing and troubleshooting
- Ensure proper chemical dosing and chemical program optimization
- Accurate well testing and production allocation support
- Annulus pressure monitoring – diagnostics and departure requests
- Downtime planning, tracking, optimization, and improvement
- Prepare yearly budget estimates for operating expense and well/flowline work
- Interface regularly with asset team members, production superintendents and platform personnel
- Coordinate with the Regulatory Department to file necessary paperwork and secure BSEE approvals
- Participate in partner meetings and provide timely information to partners
- Support HSE initiatives and ensure compliance with HSE procedures/policies
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum 7 years of experience in upstream oil and gas operations with at least 5 years of subsea/deepwater experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering or related field
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Production monitoring, optimization, short-term forecasting, and production operations
- Experience with deepwater developments and BSEE regulations
- Knowledge of subsea infrastructure and operations
- Well performance evaluation experience
- Experience with completion design/operations - conceptual through production including artificial lift, stimulation techniques, and Smart well completions
- Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Recognize personal strengths and weaknesses and be proactive in self-development
- Have a strong sense of integrity and the ability to deal with ethical situations effectively
- Willing to work a demanding and flexible schedule
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Familiarity with Spotfire and real-time trending tools (Seeq, PI Vision) preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
- Employee must be able to travel offshore to visit production facilities when necessary.
