About the Role
EMS is seeking a driven and experienced Assistant Transportation Manager to support and oversee transportation operations across the Texas region. This key leadership position will partner closely with the EMS Transportation Manager to ensure all transportation activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with EMS's strategic objectives.

What You'll Do
As the Assistant Transportation Manager, you will:
Support and lead transportation operations across assigned regions, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency at all times.
Analyze operational processes to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve productivity.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and performance metrics for multiple warehouse and fleet operations.
Oversee scheduling, routing, and fleet maintenance to ensure superior service and customer satisfaction.
Partner with leadership to ensure preventative maintenance compliance exceeds 95%.
Champion a safety-first culture, enforcing DOT, OSHA, and EMS standards.
Train and develop Supervisors and Drivers, emphasizing service excellence and accountability.
Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on reducing miles, fuel spend, and idle time while maximizing route efficiency and backhaul opportunities.
Lead cross-functional teams to implement best practices and support company-wide transportation projects.
Oversee driver staffing, recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts.
Monitor driver performance and productivity using telematics tools (e.g., Samara) to meet key safety and efficiency goals.
What You Bring
5+ years of transportation management or supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and Inventory Control regulations.
Proven ability to interpret operational and financial data to make informed decisions.
Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficiency in computer systems and fleet management tools.
Bachelor's degree preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Hands-on leadership style with a passion for team development and operational excellence.

Additional Details
Work Environment: Typical warehouse and field environment (moderate noise level).
Physical Requirements: Standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs as needed.
Travel: 10-15% across facilities within the Texas region.
