Description

Optometrist - Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC)

We are excited to announce our intention to open an optometry clinic (Mid-Summer 2026), dedicated to serving MediCal patients within our Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Optometrist to join our team and help us establish this vital new service line. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact on community health while working in a supportive and growth-oriented environment.

Join us in building a new, community-focused service line that enhances access to quality eye care.

This is not a big-box operation; we are looking for one mission-oriented Optometrist who finds a start-up operation exciting and is driven by the fact that the most vulnerable patients in our community need our care.

In addition to what our patients need, we also want to hear what your needs are.  Let us explore the possibilities before you sign anywhere else, if the location and the mission are right...let's see where that can lead us.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Up to $50,000 signing/ retention bonus
  • Competitive Salary of $150,000 - $200,000
  • Health, gap, dental, and vision insurance. Air Ambulance membership.
  • Paid malpractice insurance
  • Generous paid time off
  • CME leave and allowance
  • Internal Loan repayment options
  • Relocation assistance
  • Retirement saving plans – 401(k) with % employer match
  • Visa Assistance

Highlights of being a Provider at MCHC:

  • Highly collaborative and team-oriented environment. You will have support.
  • The team has a clear connection to the mission of MCHC.
  • Location! Mendocino and Lake County are incredible places to live. You can live on a lake, in a picturesque valley, or in the mountains and still be 5-10 minutes away from the practice and a short drive to major cities.
  • Immigration visa candidates are welcome to apply.

Skills and Qualifications:

- Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited program

- Valid state licensure to practice optometry

- Experience or interest in serving underserved populations, particularly MediCal patients preferred
