Supervises: Warehouse and Sustainability Manager, Truck Drivers, Transportation Supervisor 

Job Summary 

Directs the processes and activities of logistic operations, which includes warehousing, order processing, inventory management and control systems, transportation of goods, recycling and repurposing programs to maintain sustainable growth. Provides leadership and develops operational goals. Guides and promotes employee development. Ensures satisfactory relationships with internal and external customers. Champions and fosters a zero-waste culture. 

Essential Job Duties 

1. Directs, plans and manages warehouse, salvage, recycling and all other logistics operations related tasks.

2. Tracks donation trends year over year and budgets accordingly in partnership with the Director of Retail.

3. Actively participates and coordinates new and ongoing Donation Drive events, and Donations pick ups with community partners or customers. 

4. Works with the Marketing Department on Donation Acquisition Strategies 

5. Works on Initiatives to promote recycling and support the circular economy while reducing waste.

6. Promotes a spirit of empowerment for managers and supervisors. 

7. Hires, supervises, coaches, trains, evaluates, develops and disciplines staff. 

8. Drives execution of strategic priorities to yield measurable and sustainable results.

9. Works in collaboration with leadership in developing and implementing business goals.

10. Identifies and implements business solutions for the logistics and warehouse operations.

11. Collaborates with leadership to develop and implement short- and long-range plans including recommendations for capital expenditures (e.g., new equipment or vehicles). 

12. Champions change management and ensures buy in. 

13. Travels to locations within the LLGI territory. 

14. Oversees maintenance of fleet vehicles, forklifts, machinery and equipment. 

15. Maintains records such as DOT driver files and driver documentation, analyzes data, develops and disseminates reports. 

16. Ensures quality, delivery, budget and environmental objectives are achieved. 

17. Supervises and reviews processing, salvage, and shipping/receiving operations and establishes work schedules. 

18. Analyzes and adjusts vehicle and driver scheduling to ensure efficiency.

19. Plans for and monitors stock control, storage, order processing, delivery and dispatch of orders.

20. Examines, schedules and prepares material for delivery or transfer to stores and outside vendors (salvage), according to priorities and material availability, organization standards, and scheduling.

21. Analyzes and plans for future capacity requirements. 

22. Serves as liaison to customers, suppliers and transport companies. 

23. Leads accreditation efforts related to transportation. 

24. Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations, including federal and state Departments of Transportation, GII/CARF standards, safety, and loss prevention policy and procedures.

25. Ensures that the customer’s perspective is a driving force behind internal and external customer satisfaction. 

26. Seeks to understand the customer’s circumstances, problems, expectations and needs.

27. Identifies customer service issues and creates solutions. 

28. Builds customer awareness around our mission. 

29. Enforces and models awareness of safety and loss prevention policies and practices.

30. Ensures that safety standards are being followed. 

31. Identifies opportunities and generates ideas to improve and streamline logistic operation objectives.

32. Initiates action to monitor and coach managers concerning business goals. 

33. Partners with leadership and staff to identify, assess, create and implement process improvement

Qualifications


Education, Experience, and Credentials 

Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management or a related field. 

Requires five years logistics, retail, or related operations experience or a combination of any. (Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.) 

Requires two years of management experience in logistics or operations in a related field. Requires certification as a forklift operator or ability to obtain certification within 6 months. Requires a valid driver's license, safe driving records, proof of insurance and reliable transportation. Requires CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of employment 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, PowerPoint, Google, and Excel. Requires the ability to analyze the organization, recognize potential issues before they arise, and recommend appropriate solutions. 

Requires leadership, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills; understands statistical process control.

Requires ability to convey information clearly through verbal and written communication. Requires strong interpersonal and negotiating skills. 

Requires experience with and knowledge of profit and loss statements, and cost management accounting.

Requires a high level of professionalism, integrity, business conduct and ethical behavior. Interacts with people in a manner which enhances their dignity, privacy and confidentiality

Physical Requirements 

Requires physical stamina and strength to lift or carry up to 25 pounds. 

Requires ability to stand for long periods throughout each workday. 

Requires ability to push carts weighing a minimum of 150 pounds. 

Requires ability to use pallet jack with loads ranging from 100 to 700 pounds. 

Requires ability to perform a combination of tasks such as stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, reaching, carrying, pushing or pulling objects. 

Requires ability to reach by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. 

Requires visual acuity to work in an environment with changing and/or low light levels. 

Environmental Conditions

Subject to exposure to extreme heat and cold 

Subject to exposure to allergens including dirt, dust, mold, metals, rubber, plastics, latex, and pet hair 

Tools and Equipment 

Forklift, pallet jack, stacker, scales, bale carts, 2 wheel dollies (hand truck), 4 wheel dollies (flat carts), 4 wheel metal/plastic cages, material lifts, furniture dollies, trash bin/can, bushel carts, trash compactor, trash dumpster, personal protective equipment, baler, lift tables, computer, photocopier, telephone, and other basic office equipment and/or basic tools of the assigned work station. Wheeled spring carts, wheeled deep carts, and wheeled z-racks. Company vehicles.
