  Avon teachers have three times the educational impact. 

Teaching at Avon takes place whenever and wherever our faculty and staff interact 

with our students as dorm parents, coaches, and mentors. With a student body made 

of young men from 25 states and 26 countries, our teachers understand that there 

is no “one” boy, that every student has unique promise, and that his character is as 

important as his transcript. At Avon Old Farms, our academic program instills a curiosity 

in learning. Dedicated faculty members encourage students to embrace the multitude of 

academic offerings available. 

We embrace the power of relational learning—essentially a positive partnership between 

teacher and student—in our student-centered classes. We understand and support young 

men along the road that leads to self-discovery, independence, and manhood. As relational 

learners, our students appreciate how we collaborate in their successes and they value 

our total immersion in the community. 

As much as we challenge the boys inside the classroom, we support them in equal 

measure with compassion, empathy, and constructive feedback for personal growth in our 

community and beyond. Simply, we understand how every student best learns and what 

he needs to excel and so discover fulfillment through his own unique gifts.
