Lead Die Cut Operator (AM) - Plant 7
Department: FC-Die Cutter Location: De Pere, WISummary
Facilitate the production processes in the die cutting department to maximize thruput, quality and training while minimizing downtime.
Available Shifts
AM Shift: 4:00am - 4:00pm; 3 days on, 4 days off
Principle Duties & Responsibilities
- Responsible to follow all safety procedures as required by the role, and to nurture a food safety culture by adhering to all Safe Quality Foods requirements.
- Perform job approvals and quality spot checks on all sheet-fed die cutters throughout shift.
- Understand common quality issues and work to eliminate them.
- Assist with difficult jobs. Work with inexperienced operators. Assist with problem solving and determining an action plan.
- Help with job set up and changeovers on the sheet fed die cutters.
- Schedule jobs to the die cutters ensuring all job components are set in advance.
- Maintain flexibility in the schedule to respond to urgent requests.
- Develop the skills of die cut operators. Recognize operators that are struggling and move resources accordingly. The goal is to develop a self-sufficient crew.
- Monitor standard time, waste and quality. Understand and communicate these goals to Die Cut Operators and work to meet these goals.
- Work in a professional manner and lead by example.
- Support management and remain positive at all times, promoting a friendly work environment.
- Assist Die Cut Supervisor in leading process improvements ideas and developing standard work practices.
- Ensure Die Cut Operators comply with all standard SOP's.
- Monitor Die Cutter SQF daily cleaning and weekly PM cleanings. Hold employees accountable for being on task, staying ahead of daily responsibilities. Assist as needed to ensure incoming shift is set up for success.
- Operate die cutter as needed or directed by supervisor. Assist with relieving operators for breaks.
- Facilitate consistency and cohesion across shifts and other departments. Work together and keep communication open.
- Check in and put away new dies ensuring they are identified correctly and placed into the proper cassette.
- Pull dies and stage for machines.
- Return dies to storage ensuring die tooling is in the correct cassette and properly labeled.
- Facilitate appearance activities to ensure department is organized and tidy.
- Communicate maintenance issues to supervisor.
- Remove bales from the baler when shipping technicians are not present.
- May need to perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Must be able to communicate and answer questions in a professional and friendly manner.
- Must be able to determine the relevant facts of a situation to resolve problems and make effective decisions under pressure.
- Ability to read, comprehend and follow simple written and oral instructions.
- Knowledge of and the ability to speak the English language fluently.
- Ability to drive a forklift and material handling equipment.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
- Ability to give, receive and analyze information.
- Any combination equivalent of graduation from high school.
- Ability to meet or exceed deadlines. May be required to work some overtime and/or flexible hours.
- Requires nearly constant concentration and attention to detail.
- Ability to: stand and walk for 90% of work time; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl for 10% of work time.
- Ability to: see clearly at 20 inches or less; see clearly at 20 feet or more; identify and distinguish colors; observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on a given point; judge distances and spatial relationships; and to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus.
- Ability to: use hands for 100% of work time; reach above shoulders for 50% of work time; and use feet to operate machines for 30% of work time.
- Ability to lift: 10 pounds or less 30% of work time; 25 pounds or less 30% of work time; 50 pounds or less 25% of work time; and may lift 100 pounds or less 10% of work time. (Example: lifting roll of material on and off the press approximately 6 ft.)
- May be required to use sense of smell.
Working Conditions
- Work near moving mechanical parts.
- Nearly constant exposure to vibrations, noise, and chemical odors.
