The Vice President, Drilling and Rig Operations, is responsible and accountable for all drilling related activities on Beta’s offshore drilling facilities located on Ellen and Eureka platforms. The VP, Drilling and Rig Operations, is responsible for supervising day-to-day drilling activities and operations and rig maintenance including the safety of all personnel on the facilities, and management of budgets and financial forecasts for drilling operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide direction and oversight for all drilling related operations on Beta’s offshore rig facilities to ensure that all operations are functioning in compliance with established procedures and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Identify opportunities to enhance drilling operations and improve efficiencies by eliminating inappropriate processes or malfunctioning processes and taking the initiative necessary to correct such processes.
- Monitor daily performance and collaborate closely with other departments to optimize drilling processes and achieve safety and financial expectations. Ensure that all inspections, audits and required reports are thorough and complete.
- Review daily drilling and workover activities and analyze related KPIs (Key Performance Indicator) to assess performance and to establish a continuous improvement process. Also validate that distributed reports are descriptive and accurate.
- Direct negotiations and manage contracts for drilling services, equipment, and materials while ensuring high performance and cost efficiency from vendors and contractors
- Monitor and control both LOE and Capital budgets and forecasts for drilling costs, including reviewing and approving PO’s and invoices, developing and tracking budgets, providing periodic forecasts of expenditures, and reporting financial performance.
- Participate, as needed, in company-level reviews and drilling operations status meetings, which may include preparation and presentation of review materials.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to drilling teams, promoting a strong safety culture and professional development across all levels of the organization.
Knowledge, Skill and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of drilling operations experience, including at least 5 years in a senior supervisory or management role overseeing offshore drilling or rig operations.
- Knowledgeable in all regulatory requirements and must demonstrate knowledge of and experience with the inspection and maintenance of an offshore drilling rig while adhering to safety and operating policies and procedures.
- Ability to demonstrate a thorough technical understanding of offshore drilling processes, systems, and completions functions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with internal teams, offshore personnel, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
- High degree of management skills with the ability to execute tasks through direction, delegation and leadership.
- Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite and other relevant software tools used for operational reporting and analysis.
