About this Opportunity
Perform a wide variety of administrative support functions for the Police Department in the areas of budget, purchasing, payroll, grants, special projects, scheduling, and other areas.  This includes creating and maintaining a department budget, identifying and applying for grant opportunities, purchasing department equipment, etc.

Position Duties

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists with the management of time keeping software, approves daily payroll entries, and acts as the department’s liaison with the Payroll Department
  • Works with the Purchasing Department to prepare requests for invoices, purchase orders, bid documents, lease agreements, requests for proposals, and contracts
  • Works collaboratively with senior command staff for budget planning and management  
  • Works with the Finance Department on monthly department budget maintenance and analysis
  • Develops the direction and scope for future projects, including setting goals and timelines to provide cost figures and other data
  • Manages special projects as needed
  • Seeks out grant opportunities and prepares grant applications to include narratives and supporting documentation 
  • Manages awarded grants and completes necessary reporting requirements
  • Serves as the Police Department liaison with both the Information Technology Department and the Finance Department
  • Prepares city council documents as needed
  • Maintains regular and consistent attendance at work
  • Performs related work as required

Minimum Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and
  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in administrative support, project management, accounting or similar
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse population
Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must successfully complete an NCIC background check, pre-polygraph, polygraph examination, and fingerprinting as part of the hiring process.
