About the Role:
The Site Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of a single biosolids or compost facility under the guidance of the General Manager, establishing and maintaining performance & productivity metrics and cost management processes.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily facility operations in compliance with local, state, and environmental regulations.
- Support and lead on-site staff to ensure safety, quality, and budget goals are met.
- Maintain regular communication with staff, management, sales, and customers to align production with demand.
- Lead root cause investigations for incidents and ensure corrective action through training and accountability.
- Monitor budgets and KPIs, improving processes and performance as needed.
- Manage capital budgets, assets, and equipment utilization strategies.
- Handle personnel needs including hiring, coaching, training, and performance evaluation.
- Schedule equipment use and maintenance to maximize uptime and efficiency.
- Partner with the General Manager on short- and long-term goals and P&L reviews.
- Build positive relationships with local agencies and suppliers to improve service and uphold company reputation.
- Streamline purchasing by reducing one-time suppliers and strengthening key vendor partnerships.
- Partner with teams to address and resolve employee and labor relations issues quickly and effectively.
- Take on other duties as needed to support operations.
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Must be bilingual: English & Spanish
- 3+ years’ experience in composting, recycling, or solid waste operations, including people management
- Hands-on experience with equipment like grinders, shredders, and screeners preferred
- Skilled in preventative maintenance and troubleshooting equipment
- Experience with P&L, forecasting, and budgeting
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local health and safety regulations and best practice
- Responsible for direction, training and development of employees/personnel
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:
Normal work environment is outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions, dirt, high levels of noise, smells/odors and at times exposure to dangerous and/or toxic substances requiring necessary precautions, including PPE.
