Position Summary
Join our healthcare team as a Medical Staff Coordinator, a key role responsible for managing medical staff credentialing, privileging, compliance, and governance support. This position ensures smooth operations across medical staff services, maintains regulatory compliance, and serves as a liaison between physicians, hospital administration, and external agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Credentialing & Privileging
- Coordinate initial and ongoing credentialing and privileging for medical staff, allied health professionals, and locum tenens.
- Maintain accurate, confidential credentialing files and databases.
- Ensure compliance with hospital bylaws, Joint Commission standards, CMS, HIPAA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with third-party credential verification organizations to ensure timely credentialing processes.
Medical Staff Governance & Support
- Organize and support medical staff meetings, including agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.
- Create and distribute clinical out-of-office notices and monthly call schedules.
- Maintain current rosters and committee memberships.
- Assist medical staff officers in fulfilling governance responsibilities.
Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
- Monitor compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
- Prepare for audits and accreditation surveys.
- Assist in developing and updating policies related to medical staff governance.
Communication & Liaison Duties
- Serve as a primary contact between medical staff, hospital leadership, and external agencies.
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Facilitate effective communication and issue resolution.
Data Management & Reporting
- Maintain databases for credentialing, privileging, and continuing medical education (CME).
- Generate reports for leadership and regulatory bodies.
Additional Duties
- Support physician recruitment activities.
- Local travel required; occasional out-of-area and overnight travel may be expected.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support medical staff operations.
