Emergency Services Coordinator - Part Time

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Emergency Services Coordinator is responsible for overseeing ED-specific training, acting as a community liaison, performing data abstraction, and coordinating quality initiatives to support regulatory compliance and staff development. This role includes leadership in the coordination and maintenance of the Emergency Department’s Level IV Trauma designation and preparedness for Joint Commission surveys. The coordinator collaborates with internal departments and external agencies to ensure effective patient care transitions and emergency preparedness. Responsibilities include the abstraction of data for programs such as the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines (GWTG), trauma registries, and stroke/ACS certifications, driving performance improvement and ensuring adherence to evidence-based care. Through these duties, the Program Coordinator plays a vital role in regulatory readiness, trauma program development, and overall enhancement of emergency care services. Reports to the Emergency Department Manager.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

 Education Required:

  • Associate’s degree in nursing required; BSN preferred.

Licensure Required:

  • Current Nevada RN license

Certification Required:                                                                             

  • American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, PALS
  • TNCC and STABLE preferred

Work Experience: 

  • 3 years of ED nursing experience required; 5 years preferred.

 

POSITION ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate with Quality and Education departments to align ED initiatives with national benchmarks.
  • Prepares reports and presentations for ED leadership and performance improvement committees.
  • Analyzes quality metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Abstracts and submits data for trauma, stroke, chest pain, and quality registries, including GWTG, Trauma PI logs, and state/federal datasets.
  • Coordinates interdisciplinary meetings and readiness activities to ensure Joint Commission compliance.
  • Maintains ED survey readiness by updating policies, logs, training records, and mock survey tools.
  • Tracks trauma-specific education and participates in related performance improvement efforts.
  • Assesses staff training needs and develops education plans aligned with unit standards and regulatory requirements.


Scope of Service

ER Training:

Collaborate with specific entities/departments to organize ED specific education for staff including, but not limited to:                                                                                        

  • TNCC, STABLE, Rural Trauma, ESI Triage, CEN preparation, ENPC, Hazmat/Decontamination, training MCI training.
  • ER Community Liaison 
  • Participate in Emergency Management meetings with Quad County and Carson Valley Health. Aligning with emergency preparedness plans and response strategies. 
  • Help to maintain and enhance relationships with EMS and law enforcement entities: East Fork Fire Protection Department Care Flight Mono County & Douglas County Sheriff’s Offices.

 

Data Abstraction Responsibilities:  

  • Ensure accurate data abstraction for quality improvement. 
  • Revise policies and educate staff to meet certification standards. 
  • Provide updates to leadership and ensure regulatory compliance. 
  • Proactively identifies and undertakes activities that support the developmental needs of the department.
  • Demonstrates dependability and flexibility in meeting scheduling needs of the department and hospital.
  • Completes work assignments on time/readily accepts assignments as observed by manager.
  • Reports to work on time and are at work as scheduled, as observed by manager.
