PURPOSE

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and delivery of complex mechanical and plumbing systems for commercial and industrial facilities. This role combines technical leadership with business development—mentoring design teams, collaborating with clients, and driving innovation in sustainable, efficient building systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Key Technical and Leadership Focus:

  • Lead the mechanical design of HVAC and plumbing systems for large commercial, industrial, and institutional projects.
  • Oversee concept design, energy modeling, and system optimization using Revit, AutoCAD, and relevant engineering software.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and field teams to ensure constructible, cost-effective designs.
  • Mentor and review work of supporting team members.
  • Professional development support – continuing education, PE licensing fees, and other related growth opportunities.
  • Continuously develop relationships with existing clients and pursue new client opportunities which provide long-term customer relationships and revenue opportunities.
  • Participate in planning and formulation of design alternatives and solutions for major construction projects; assist in estimating, feasibility studies, and may coordinate production of basic design plans and construction documents.
  • Review and interpret proposed designs, architectural drawings, and building specifications for appropriateness to required function and/or institutional standard, and initiate revisions where appropriate; advise consultants and clients how best to achieve required results.
  • Consistently achieve high levels of client satisfaction Display optimism, honesty and integrity and lead by example.
  • Support culture of safety across all business units.
  • Lead and implement process improvement initiatives.
  • Support corporate goals, VTO’s, and personal Business Development Plans.
  • Value and maintain internal and external relationships at all levels.


MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field  
  • Ten + years of directly related experience to duties specified
  • P.E. License
  • Design-Build project experience preferred
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook) 
  • AutoCAD and/ or Revit experience is desired

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Valid driver’s license

 

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, personnel management, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Skilled in situational management and decision-making under pressure.
  • Strong proficiency in computer application and technology tools.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift ten pounds occasionally
  • Visits to job sites which would require periods of standing, walking and/or climbing stairs
