About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Property Accountant to join our growing real estate team in Parsippany, NY. This onsite position plays a key role in managing the full-cycle accounting process for a portfolio of 3–5 commercial properties. The ideal candidate is an experienced, detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys taking ownership of their work.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting including Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), General Ledger (GL) entries, and month-end close.

  • Prepare, review, and reconcile property-specific financial statements, rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and bank statements.

  • Assist with or oversee budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting for all assigned commercial properties.

  • Collaborate with property management and leadership teams to analyze financial performance and drive efficiency.

  • Provide audit support and assist with ERP and system implementations as needed.

  • Work independently, demonstrating strong initiative and assertiveness.

  • (Optional growth opportunity) Position may evolve to include team leadership responsibilities based on performance and workload capacity.



Qualifications

  • 5–8 years of experience in property accounting within real estate or property management.

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting OR Finance required
  • Proven experience in full-cycle accounting (AP, AR, GL, month-end close, bank reconciliations).

  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, rent rolls, CAM reconciliations, and financial reporting.

  • ERP system implementation experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of cash flow management and audit preparation.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).

  • Hands-on experience with AppFolio required

  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary: $110,000 – $125,000 per year
