The Police Department is establishing an eligibility list for the position of Police Agent. Applicants must be currently employed with the Visalia Police Department.  The list will be used to fill future vacancies throughout calendar year 2026 unless there are not enough names for consideration. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements and provide appropriate supporting documents.

Position Duties

POLICE AGENT

Under direction, serves on special high-priority assignments, works with other City Departments for planning and problem solving, and works with assigned staff to address quality of life issues within assigned districts; supervises officers in the absence of a Sergeant. May be called upon at any time to respond to a major crime scene or other law enforcement priority outside regular assignment. Performs related responsibilities as required.

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Police Agent Minimum Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of sworn municipal law enforcement experience, of which, the last one (1) year has been with the Visalia Police Department as a full-time sworn Police Officer.
  • Requires possession of the Basic POST Certificate.
  • Not on probationary status.

PHYSICAL STANDARDS

Must maintain P.O.S.T. physical standards, including mobility and physical strength and stamina to respond to emergency situations and apprehend suspects, lift and push or pull individuals or objects weighing up to 25 pounds and perform the essential functions of the job; ability to work in a standard office setting and to operate a motor vehicle.
