Key Responsibilities:

• Obeys all traffic laws. 
• Observe all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintains discipline among students while they are on the bus. 
• Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority through established procedures. 
• Maintains the interior of the bus in a clean state (sweeping daily and cleaning mirrors, lights, windshields, and rear windows).
• Reports damage to the Director of Transportation.
• Check the bus before each operation for mechanical defects, proper fluid levels, and ensure the bus is fueled. 
• Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness. 
• Discharges students only at authorized stops. 
• Transports only authorized students. 
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports. 
• Obeys and enforces all State and school district policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Transportation within the constraints of the Master Agreement. 

Qualifications & Experience:

• Required: A valid Michigan license to drive a school bus with all required endorsements. 
• Additional health and experience requirements as the State and Board may require.
• Secure and maintain certification from the School Bus Driver Safety Program. 
• Pass physical
• Pass a state police records check and have an established satisfactory five-year driving record.
