The Hanover Theatre Conservatory is currently seeking theater instructors who specialize in improv. They must possess a deep understanding of creative classroom management and create a safe, supportive and structured classroom environment. Must be able to create and execute lesson plans based on a curriculum outline. Candidates must possess a strong commitment to working with children, teens, and adults. We offer classes in 4 different age brackets: Children (grades K – 3), Pre-Teens (grades 4-8), Teens (Grades 9-12) and Adults (ages 18+).
We offer Drama classes in (2) 15-week semesters; Sept – Dec and Jan – May. Most classes are held during the week after school hours (4-9pm). Children and Pre-Teen classes are usually 60 minutes, Teen/Adult classes are usually 90 minutes. Preferred day of the week is Mondays, but we are considering instructors with other availability.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides each student with an evaluation at the end of the semester (either verbal or written).
- Follows general curriculum outlined for each class
- Attends professional development sessions and staff meetings as required
- Carries out administrative responsibilities (taking attendance, completing organization-wide trainings)
- Participates in pre-planning and post-planning meetings as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be willing and available to work on-site in Worcester, MA.
- Availability to work a flexible schedule which may include nights and weekends.
- In-depth knowledge and expertise in theater and performance.
- Knowledge and demonstrated practice of effective classroom management strategies to maintain a safe and effective learning environment.
- Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Effective prioritization and multitasking skills.
- Collaborative decision-making skills in a team environment.
- Detail oriented with ability to effectively multitask.
- Must have reliable transportation.
Education and Work Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Theater Performance, Theater Arts or related field, Master’s Preferred.
