Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and implementing the sales plan and strategy for the expansion and retention of business owners within the Bank of America footprint. Key responsibilities include setting sales goals and the direction of the business segment and integrating sales efforts with product development and client service requirements. Job expectations include developing and implementing an integrated sales program with corporate and commercial partners to expand targeted client relationships.
This Commercial Business Development Officer (“CBDO”) Division Market Executive role will report to the National CBDO Executive. This leader is accountable for building and leading a team of high performing Commercial Business Development Officers (CBDO) focused on providing the most appropriate lending solution to prospects and clients with revenues up to $50 Million. Solutions include conventional and SBA loan options. The CBDO Exec will also be responsible for coaching their team on building a network of COIs in their assigned market to self-source lending opportunities and identify and develop new client relationships for the bank. Client relationships will be developed through a network of referral sources including internal and external partners, Real Estate Brokers, Community Development Corporations (CDCs), commercial referral sources, and prospect lists provided by marketing intelligence. The CBDO Exec is also responsible for building relationships with Business Banking Market and Region Executives as well as Practice Solutions, Franchise and Merrill leaders to guide their CBDOs in identifying referral opportunities from internal bank and Merrill relationships. This leader will actively coach CBDOs to drive aggressive goals and work closely with credit, risk and fulfillment leaders to support booking all appropriate deals.
Responsibilities:
- Builds trusted relationships with key partners, clients, and prospects
- Manages a team of Business Development Officers across a large geographic region, including attracting and retaining an effective sales team
- Acts as a change agent in a fast-paced work environment
- Sets and communicates the division sales strategy to team members and partners
- Exercises good judgement and experience to make timely and effective decisions internally and externally

Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of sales management and leadership experience in leading an outside sales team focused on business development with proven success in exceeding sales goals.
- Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance or Economics preferred or minimum of 7 years relevant work experience
- Formal credit/lending training/strong credit skills with a focus on SBA lending
- Proven business acumen by working with SBA products and Businesses to provide solutions and services to fit their financial needs
- Crisp communication and presentation skills, demonstrated confidence in tailoring messages horizontally and vertically in the organization
- Proven ability to attract and retain high quality talent that can successfully operate in the market

- Inspires Commitment and Followers - Builds and leverages internal and external partnerships to generate leads/referrals and grow the business.
- Position will lead a team that covers a significant geographic territory requiring up to 50% travel
