Colt Electro Optics (Colt Optics), a division of Colt CZ Group North America, is looking for a Director, Financial Planning and Analysis.
Located in Traverse City, Michigan, Colt Optics is a global supplier of electro-optics, magnified optics, night vision systems and other weapons, accessories and enablers.
The Director, Financial Planning and Analysis will be responsible for delivering comprehensive weekly and monthly financial reporting and analysis. Key responsibilities include supporting the development of the annual operating plan, preparing monthly forecasts, and building financial models to inform strategic decision-making. This high-visibility role also involves contributing to special projects and performing ad-hoc analyses for senior leadership.
Essential Functions:
Budgeting
- Support the coordination of the annual budgeting process, including the preparation and delivery of financial presentations for business units
- Collaborate with business units and key stakeholders to review and refine budget details by conducting in-depth analyses of the assumptions supporting the construction of the current annual budget
- Contribute to the development of the company’s long-term strategic plan by preparing financial projections beyond the current fiscal year
Forecasting
- Conduct trend analysis and utilize historical data to develop forward-looking financial forecasts that support proactive business planning
Financial Analysis
- Partner with leadership to evaluate monthly financial and operational performance, identifying key variances and recommending actionable improvements
- Provide ongoing support in the creation and enhancement of financial tools, templates, pricing models, and performance dashboards to support strategic decision-making and enhance operational performance in alignment with the company’s objectives
- Analyze production schedules, inventory requirements, and shipment plans for two remote facilities to ensure operational efficiency
Reporting
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of weekly, monthly, and quarterly financial reports for management review
- Compile and synthesize financial data on an ad-hoc basis to support various business needs and strategic initiatives
- Prepare timely financial analysis for submission to parent company.
- Complete assigned tasks and required paperwork accurately and on time
- Ensure regular and timely attendance to maintain workflow continuity
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Complete other tasks assigned by supervisor or management
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as finance, accounting, economics, or business administration, or equivalent professional qualifications and experience.
- 5-10 years of experience in financial analysis, with a strong foundation in data-driven decision-making.
- Background in manufacturing; experience with cost accounting is highly desirable
- Exceptional analytical and systems skills, including advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Proficiency in Power BI, or other data visualization platforms highly desirable
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently or collaboratively; highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated proficiency in gathering, organizing, and synthesizing relevant data to support decision-making
- Strong Understanding of GAAP and basic understanding of IFRS Accounting Rules
- Strong analytical capabilities with a systematic approach to evaluating complex information
- Advanced business analysis skills, with a focus on identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Deep understanding of organizational business operations and industry dynamics
- Proficient in managing databases and leveraging technology-driven business intelligence tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent computer skills - proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Epicor or comparable ERP systems.
