Description
Avion Hospitality is seeking a Managing Director to lead one of Charleston’s most exciting dual-brand transformations — the evolution of a Hyatt Place into a reimagined JdV by Hyatt, alongside the continued excellence of Hyatt House Charleston Historic District.
This high-impact leadership role blends visionary brand activation with hands-on operational excellence. The Managing Director is accountable for both the pre-opening transformation and the long-term commercial and cultural success of this flagship complex — shaping how the property performs, inspires, and connects with the community for years to come.
What You’ll Do
Lead the Transformation & Launch
- Direct the renovation, design, and brand conversion of the Hyatt Place into a lifestyle-luxury JdV by Hyatt experience while maintaining the operational integrity of the Hyatt House.
- Develop a comprehensive launch roadmap that encompasses brand standards, culture, training, service rituals, and opening activations.
- Partner with ownership and Hyatt brand leadership to ensure timely, high-impact delivery of every phase.
Drive Day-to-Day Operations
- Oversee all aspects of both hotels’ performance — rooms, F&B, sales, events, engineering, finance, and people & culture.
- Provide strategic leadership to a complex operations team led by a Hotel Manager, ensuring seamless coordination and unified standards across both brands.
- Deliver exceptional guest experiences aligned with the JdV lifestyle personality and Hyatt House comfort standards.
Accelerate Commercial Growth
- Lead all revenue-generating disciplines: sales, marketing, revenue management, and brand partnerships.
- Craft strategies that optimize the mix between leisure, corporate, group, and extended-stay segments.
- Continually evaluate business opportunities, partnerships, and local activations that strengthen both topline and brand awareness.
Elevate People & Culture
- Champion a service culture rooted in Trust, Transparency, and Results — where individuality, creativity, and ownership thrive.
- Mentor and grow department heads and emerging leaders.
- Foster a culture of accountability, recognition, and empowerment to drive engagement, retention, and performance.
Inspire Community & Brand Connection
- Build the property’s presence in Charleston’s cultural landscape through local partnerships, events, and storytelling.
- Represent Avion and Hyatt with pride and authenticity — building trust with owners, associates, and the community.
What You’ll Bring
Why Avion
- At Avion Hospitality, our core values are Trust, Talent & Results. We are a management organization that emphasizes being high-touch, nimble, and accessible, and invests in strong infrastructure to support our properties.
- We partner with world-class owners and brands, bringing best-in-industry tools across ops, finance, HR, procurement, systems, and digital / revenue management, enabling you to focus on high-value leadership rather than bureaucracy.
- Due to our lower ratio of assets to property support, we can devote more focus and resources to each hotel, customizing our strategy and culture for maximum impact on each property.
- We are growth-oriented but grounded: we invest in foundational stability, not just rapid expansion, so you’ll have the structure and backing needed to execute a transformative repositioning with precision.
- You’ll join a fast-growing organization that is already executing repositionings and managing dual or repositioned properties, offering you the platform to lead something high-profile in Charleston and influence both brand standards and organizational culture.
