Technical Operations

At United, we have some of the best aircraft in the world. Our Technical Operations team includes aircraft maintenance technicians, engineers, planners, ground equipment and facilities professionals, and supply chain teams that help ensure our planes are well-maintained and ready to get our customers to their desired destinations. Key Responsibilities:

As a Senior Technical Planner – Base Maintenance, you will manage heavy maintenance visits at in-house and vendor facilities. You’ll be responsible for building, coordinating, and delivering accurate work packages that align with scope, labor, and cost expectations. This role involves cross-functional collaboration and leveraging data to drive continuous improvement.

  • Build and deliver timely, accurate maintenance work packages within budgeted labor hours and timeframes.

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Materials, Tooling, and other departments to ensure all requirements are met pre-visit.

  • Support maintenance stations during aircraft visits and adjust work packages as needed.

  • Communicate revisions, special requirements, and schedule changes to key stakeholders.

  • Analyze post-visit data to identify process improvements and optimize future planning efforts.

  • Lead planning meetings with internal teams and vendors to monitor visit readiness and progress.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements using data-driven insights.

NOTE: This position is based at the CSC-Willis Tower, located in Chicago, IL, and is considered a hybrid work schedule, with three days in the office.


What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree or at least two years of experience in aircraft maintenance, aircraft maintenance planning, supply chain, or other relevant experience
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer
    without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of the interview is required to meet the job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Two years of experience in aircraft maintenance, aircraft maintenance planning, supply chain, engineering, or other relevant aviation experience
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of aircraft systems
  • Understanding aircraft maintenance programs 
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact at all levels (including executive) and team with all internal and external business partners
  • Be adept at juggling several projects and initiatives simultaneously through appropriate prioritization
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of the interview is required to meet the job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

 

What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in a related technical field or equivalent work or military experience    
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant License
  • Knowledge of aircraft maintenance planning
  • Aircraft Maintenance or engineering
  • 1 year of planning or management experience    
  • Project planning
  • Experience with continuous improvement principles and tools
  • Data analysis and quantitative modeling techniques (e.g., statistical, optimization, simulation, spreadsheet)
