The ideal candidate will provide senior-level mechanical engineering support for Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS) programs at Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division. Lead mechanical system design, testing, and analysis for Unmanned Undersea Vehicles (UUVs) and Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USVs) supporting critical Navy mine countermeasure operations. Support research and development activities, test and evaluation operations, prototype fabrication, and provide technical expertise for mechanical systems throughout the complete system lifecycle.


Responsibilities

  • Develop UMS-related mechanical engineering concepts and design solutions for unmanned maritime platforms.
  • Perform scientific and engineering analyses, trade studies, and component/subsystem tests for mechanical systems.
  • Conduct modeling and simulation to investigate problems and develop alternate technical approaches.
  • Develop and provide hardware prototypes for Government-conducted test and evaluation events.
  • Provide test and evaluation support including test plan development, test documentation, and mission debriefs.
  • Configure and de-configure test platforms as required for testing phases.
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on UUV/USV mechanical systems and support equipment.
  • Support Organization-level and Intermediate-level mechanical maintenance for UMS and Mission Package efforts.
  • Conduct design analysis to determine operational and maintenance performance measures for mechanical systems.
  • Provide fleet engineering support including on-site engineering investigations and consultant engineering assistance.
  • Support Mine Countermeasures (MCM) Unmanned Surface Vehicle systems including supply support and hardware coordination.
  • Fabricate prototypes and conduct site surveys for facilities supporting maintenance and storage operations.
  • Recommend improvements to test procedures, test equipment, tools, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Support Packaging, Handling, Storage, and Transportation (PHS&T) technical requirements.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 7+ years of professional experience in mechanical engineering
  • Experience with UUV/USV mechanical system design and integration
  • Mechanical system testing, analysis, and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Knowledge of unmanned maritime platform configuration and maintenance
  • Experience with research and development engineering concepts
  • Test and evaluation support experience including test plan development
  • Preventative and corrective maintenance experience for complex mechanical systems
  • Prototype fabrication and manufacturing support capabilities
  • Understanding of design analysis methodologies
  • Fleet engineering support and field troubleshooting experience
  • Site survey and facility assessment capabilities
  • Ability to support both CONUS and OCONUS operations
  • SECRET security clearance
  • U.S. citizen
