SUMMARY
The Strategic Business Development Manager, Consumer Health & Wellness is a cross-divisional growth leader responsible for shaping and advancing TekniPlex’s presence in the rapidly expanding Consumer Health & Wellness marketplace. This role will report through the Integrated Performance Solutions (IPS) organization with a strong dotted line to the Barrier Protection Systems (BPS) segment for Healthcare, serving as a bridge between both segments to unlock synergies, align strategies, and drive profitable growth.
This role will lead efforts to identify emerging market opportunities, develop strategic partnerships, and align commercial and technical capabilities across TekniPlex to meet evolving customer and consumer/patient needs in home-based health, diagnostics, and wellness solutions.
This position requires a collaborative and visionary mindset balanced by disciplined execution and someone who can connect insights to action, foster cross-functional collaboration, and position TekniPlex as a trusted material science innovation partner in the Consumer Health & Wellness ecosystem.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Strategy & Opportunity Development
- Conduct market assessments in cooperation with Marketing to define the size, segmentation, and growth potential of the Consumer Health & Wellness category.
- Identify unmet needs, technology gaps, and adjacencies where TekniPlex can create differentiated value.
- Develop and recommend long-term strategies, business cases, and roadmaps for TekniPlex’s participation in the at-home healthcare, diagnostics, and consumer wellness markets.
- Translate insights into actionable initiative that may include new product platforms, material development, packaging formats, or strategic collaborations.
- Monitor and interpret trends in consumer behavior, healthcare delivery models, and regulations shaping the Consumer Health & Wellness landscape.
Cross-Segment Collaboration
- Serve as the strategic connector between IPS and Healthcare, ensuring shared visibility into opportunities and aligned pursuit strategies.
- This role will be a part of the sales organizations for IPS and BPS to ensure consistent messaging and delivery of strategic objectives.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams (Sales, Product Management, Marketing, R&D/Innovation, Operations, Regulatory, Finance) to evaluate and activate new business opportunities.
- Facilitate joint planning sessions to align priorities, resources, and investment decisions across segments.
- Establish a unified Consumer Health & Wellness growth framework leveraging the combined strengths of IPS’s materials science expertise and Healthcare’s application depth.
Strategic Partnerships & Ecosystem Development
- Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with key customers, start-ups, and industry collaborators that accelerate Consumer Health & Wellness innovation.
- Represent TekniPlex at industry conferences, associations, and innovation forums to build visibility and credibility in the category.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Product Management in IPS and BPS to articulate TekniPlex’s Consumer Health & Wellness value proposition and thought leadership.
Business Case Creation & Decision Support
- Assist in the development of robust business cases to support investment decisions, new product development, or market entry initiatives.
- Partner with Finance and Business Development to model revenue potential, ROI, and risk mitigation for emerging opportunities.
- Provide strategic input to senior leadership on portfolio evolution, capability expansion, and acquisition targets relevant to Consumer Health & Wellness.
Leadership & Influence
- Act as a strategic advisor to both IPS and BPS leadership on the Consumer Health & Wellness market dynamics and strategic choices.
- Drive alignment across internal stakeholders by communicating a clear vision, rationale, and business impact for initiatives pursued.
- Champion a culture of innovation and customer-centric growth within the organization.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Marketing, or Business (MBA or advanced degree preferred).
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in strategic business development, market development, or innovation within healthcare, pharma, medical devices, packaging, diagnostics, or materials science.
- Proven record of developing and executing new market entry strategies and building cross-functional business platforms.
- Deep understanding of Consumer Health & Wellness, remote diagnostics, home-based medical devices, or consumer wellness categories.
- Skills:
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and financial acumen.
- Exceptional collaboration and influence skills across complex matrix organizations.
- Strong communication and storytelling skills for presenting business cases and strategies to senior leadership.
- Proficiency in CRM and market analysis tools (Salesforce, Power BI, etc.).
- Ability to balance long-term strategic vision with near-term execution milestones.
- Travel of 50% for customer, conference, and cross-site engagement.
- Must Live close to a major airport
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Remote role with regular collaboration across global teams and business units.
- Travel required for customer engagements, industry events, and strategic planning sessions.
- Exposure to both Healthcare and Consumer Products environments requiring versatility and adaptability.
Salary of $140,000 to $160,000 DOE + Bonus
