SUMMARY:

The Logistics & Dispatch Warehouse Specialist coordinates daily deliveries, manages driver schedules, and keeps the logistics operations of our building products distribution running smoothly. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 – 4 years of experience in dispatching, routing, or logistics coordination.
  • Experience in building materials, construction supply, or trucking is a plus!
  • Strong communication skills — you’re clear, calm, and quick on your feet when plans change.
  • Working knowledge of GPS tracking systems, and ERP platforms.
  • Understanding of DOT regulations and basic fleet compliance.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Forklift experience is a plus!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but not limited to:

  • Plan, schedule, and dispatch delivery routes for company trucks to ensure timely, accurate, and efficient deliveries.
  • Communicate throughout the day with drivers, customers, and branch employees to provide updates, solve issues, and adjust routes as needed.
  • Monitor driver progress, delivery times, and traffic or weather conditions to stay ahead of delays.
  • Coordinate inbound and outbound shipments through the transfer system between branches.
  • Verify load accuracy and ensure all paperwork, and delivery documents are complete.
  • Support the warehouse team with order staging, loading, and maintaining accurate inventory flow.
  • Report on fleet performance and delivery metrics.
  • Maintain close communication with sales and operations to prioritize urgent orders and meet customer expectations.
  • Promote safety in all loading, driving, and delivery activities.
  • Work with other employees in a team environment. 
  • Read work orders / invoices to determine materials needed for customer pick-up or delivery.
  • Move / lift heavy materials by hand - up to 100 lbs.
  • Operate a forklift to load a customer’s vehicle, load an Erie Materials delivery truck, unload a vendor truck, move material in stock, etc.
  • Cleaning warehouse area(s) including organization of materials, sweeping warehouse floors and parking lot areas, emptying trash cans, etc.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities, as assigned.

Requirements

DRUG TESTING REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Employee must have valid driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
