Description

The Veteran’s Court Therapist is responsible for providing clinical assessment, treatment, and case coordination services to Veterans participating in the Veteran’s Treatment Court program. This position focuses on addressing mental health, substance use, and co-occurring disorders while promoting recovery, accountability, and community reintegration. The therapist collaborates closely with the judicial systems, probation, and community partners to support participants in meeting court and treatment requirements.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive biopsychosocial assessments for adults (and children, as applicable), ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Develop and implement individualized, recovery-focused service plans that include measurable and outcome-oriented goals.
  • Provide evidence-based, brief, and solution-focused individual, marital, family, and/or group therapy interventions.
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely documentation in accordance with agency, state, and federal standards.
  • Communicate effectively with related community service organizations, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Corrections, County Probation, and Specialty Courts.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case staffing, and court proceedings, as required.
  • Deliver community presentations and outreach activities related to Veterans behavioral health and recovery services, as assigned.
  • Respond to client crises and provide crisis intervention for active caseload participants when needed.
  • Maintain an average caseload consistent with program and statutory requirements.
  • Meet agency impact hours and performance standards, based on an annualized target (prorated for part-time employees).
  • Uphold confidentiality, professional boundaries, and ethical standards in all interactions.

Must meet eligibility requirements

Qualifications


  • Master’s degree in a Human Services field.
  • Current Florida licensure or registration as LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, or registered intern under active supervision preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in mental health or substance use treatment.
  • Experience with Veterans preferred.
  • Knowledge and skills in treating a population with co-occurring disorders.
  • Ability to work effectively and professionally with multidisciplinary staff, patients, the judicial system, community agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Must maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct, while adhering to agency policies and procedures.
  • Ability to manage stressful situations and display appropriate work demeanor and boundaries.
  • Commitment to customer service excellence and responsiveness to patient and program needs.
  • Strict adherence to patient and agency confidentiality requirements.
  • Ability to pass a level II Background clearance and drug test.
  • Valid FL drivers’ license, insurance, and safe driving record.
  • Dependable transportation (registered, safe operating conditions, etc.).
