Position Summary
Join our dedicated Endoscopy Center team and make a difference in the patient experience every day. The Endo Technician – Assist plays an essential role in providing exceptional care and support to patients throughout their endoscopy procedures. This position assists physicians during procedures, processes and reprocesses scopes and related equipment, manages specimens, supports the RN and/or CRNA with pre-, intra-, and post-procedure care, and helps maintain a clean, well-stocked, and organized environment-all while upholding the highest standards of safety and quality.
*This is a .80 FTE position (with consideration up to 1.0 FTE) at our Stevens Point facility, with potential to work at our Wausau facility as well.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
•Assist physicians during procedures by preparing and organizing the environment, selecting and setting up proper equipment, instrumentation, and supplies, and maintaining clear communication throughout each case.
•Collect, prepare, label, document, and send specimens according to protocol; track specimens to ensure timely receipt of final reports.
•Clean, handle, store, and reprocess scopes and endoscopy equipment in compliance with all infection control and quality standards; perform room turnover and promptly report any equipment issues to the Endoscopy Center Director.
•Support the RN and/or CRNA with patient care before, during, and after procedures-transporting patients, removing IV catheters, assisting with pre- and post-bay turnover, and cleaning equipment-all while accurately documenting care provided in the electronic medical record.
•Restock and maintain supplies in all areas, including pre- and post-bay areas, procedure rooms, and utility rooms.
•Perform daily care and maintenance of all reprocessing and endoscopy equipment to ensure proper function and longevity.
•Complete daily and weekly duty checklists to uphold infection control, quality, and safety standards within the Endoscopy Center.
•Participate in projects and initiatives as assigned by the Endoscopy Center Director.
•Serve as a knowledgeable and supportive resource to team members and peers, contributing to a positive and collaborative work environment.
•Maintain current knowledge of trends, procedures, and techniques relevant to endoscopy and patient care.
•Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Medical Assistant, Nursing Assistant, or Surgical Technician degree preferred.
- Licensure/Certification
- BLS certification required.
- GTS (GI Technical Specialist) certification through SGNA required within three years of employment.
- Experience
- GI technician experience or recent OR/ambulatory surgery experience preferred.

- Maintain structure of the Endoscopy Center protocols while considering compassionate care for our patients.
- Proficient computer skills working in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
- Demonstrates professionalism and respect in all forms of communication and correspondence.
