Your Opportunity
Stantec’s Rochester, NY office has an immediate need for talented, team focused Civil Designers to work on roadway and/or bridge and culvert projects under the guidance of an Engineer. You will utilize your knowledge and experience to contribute to a variety of projects from conceptual design through construction.
Your Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will join a growing team of transportation professionals and play an important role in the design component of transportation projects throughout New York. Key responsibilities will include:
- Design roadways in accordance with AASHTO and NYSDOT specifications and CADD Standards using Bentley Open Roads, Open Bridge, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Develop design plans and calculations, technical specifications, and construction cost estimates.
- Prepare engineering reports and technical studies such as design memos, feasibility studies, Concept Design Reports, Design Exception Reports, and Preliminary Engineering Reports.
- Perform field work and support construction phase services.
- Work alongside experienced practitioners to expand your knowledge.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Experience with Open Roads Designer, Open Bridge Designer, and / or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office, BlueBeam, Projectwise.
- Understanding of civil engineering design concepts for grading, drainage, earthwork, roads, bridges, and culverts.
- Strong communication, coordination, time management, and organizational skills.
- Detail oriented and ability to remain focused.
- Ability to work as a member of a team.
Education and Experience
- Civil engineering technician/technology diploma from a recognized community or technical college or the ability to demonstrate sufficient knowledge received from previous experience.
- 0 to 3 years of experience in engineering consulting or construction industry.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
