  1. SUMMARY: The Armed Security Guard is primarily responsible, through patrolling of the premises and monitoring of surveillance devices, for the day-to-day safety and security of Inspiration Field and its individuals, employees, customers and visitors. The Armed Security Guard shall use negotiation skills and/or appropriate force to quickly deal with any issue or threats, as needed.
  2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Responsible for securing the Agency's premises, individuals and personnel through monitoring of surveillance equipment, including video surveillance; inspecting entry points around the building; inspecting the building itself, equipment and vehicles, etc.
    2. Secures premises and controls access to the facility by observing and permitting entry.
    3. Must possess a concealed carry gun permit upon hire and throughout employment.
    4. Responds to emergency or irregular situations inside and outside of the agency's building, using the agency's established protocol related to restraint and force.
    5. Maintains order and enforces agency security measures in relation to individuals, employees and visitors.
    6. Pass the Medication Administration test with no more than two attempts and administer medication to clients according to physician orders and using appropriate administration techniques as outlined in the Medication Administration course, if needed.
    7. Must be able to perform Lifting and Transferring techniques as trained and pass performance testing. The employee may occasionally lift and/or push and pull up to 50 lbs. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement.
    8. Driving of agency vehicles as necessary for transportation of clients and agency business as assigned.

    • Able to regularly sit, walk, stand, climb up and down stairs, physically restrain clients pursuant to training (when necessary) and sit at a computer for long periods of time and repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times (typing, data entry).
    • Communicate through speech with individuals in service and public in both quiet and noisy environments.
    • Operate a personal computer and related software.
    • Tolerate various levels of stress and meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
    • Demonstrate specific vision abilities which include close, distance, and depth perception and able to read handwritten or typed material, and able to adjust focus.
    • Work and concentrate in both noisy and quiet environments.
    • Squat, stoop, kneel, and reach above the head. Forward motion will occasionally be required.
    • Work inside the building a majority of the time.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Maintain and follow Agency policies and procedures at all times.
    2. Perform visible patrol on foot mornings and evenings.
    3. Perform routine security inspections of facility and equipment.
    4. Monitor and maintain the Agency's security system and procedures.
    5. Monitors and controls all entry points, including access to all entry points.
    6. Responds to alarms and sounds alarms in response to a potential security breach.
    7. Perform routine checks of premises to make sure it is locked and secure, including vehicles in the back parking lot.
    8. Review and execute emergency and evacuation procedures.
    9. Responsible for following local, state and federal requirements related to area security, public safety, gun-handling, etc.
    10. Inform those people who violate the agency's security and safety policy and procedures of said violations.
    11. Utilize de-escalation methods during conflicts.
    12. Responsible for quickly restraining security threats and using judgement and responding to an incident utilizing POST-certified techniques concerning use of force, up to and including armed response.
    13. Proficient in the use of all protective and restraint equipment and weapons.
    14. Work and communicate with local law enforcement.
    15. Complete interviews, reports and observations related to security and safety violations.
    16. Maintain all Agency data and compile reports and logs as required by agency, local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
    17. Responds to incidents related to security threats, bomb threats, hazardous threats and fire, medical, flood, weather, etc. emergencies.
    18. Assist staff with the daily loading and unloading of individuals in service upon their arrival and departure to and from Program, while maintaining situational awareness at all times.
    19. Member of the Agency's Security Team and will schedule monthly meetings and facilitate correspondence to the team and keep record of meetings.
    20. Conduct drug screenings as needed for new hires and for annual employee testing.
    21. Safeguard all agency funds and property.
    22. Participate in staff training activities and staff meetings, as outlined in the agency's staff development curriculum.
    23. Annual training for Post Certification in the appropriate system assigned by your reserve and provide copies of certificates to your supervisor. Including Active Shooter, working with the disabled population, desiccation techniques. Attend active shooter training/workshop opportunities as they arise.
    24. Work flexible schedules or within various environments as agency and supervisor deems necessary. This includes the Annual Trunk or Treat and Santa's Workshop. Staff attendance and promptness to assigned shifts is essential. The responsibilities of this position may require staff to be able to work irregular, extended, and/or be available for on-call work hours, evenings, nights, weekend, holidays, etc.
    25. Follow agency policies and procedures in carrying out duties.
    26. Provide customer service.
    27. Advise supervisor and/or the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of concerns and problems that arise within the agency.
    28. Review the Colorado fingerprinting schedule and conduct all fingerprint appointments booked within the system. Train the HR Aide to serve as a backup in the event you are unavailable or out of the office.
    29. Performs other duties as assigned by the Community Relations Director/Human Resources Director, CEO, and/or designee.
    30. Other reasonable duties may be assigned.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability necessary for success. An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    MINIMUM/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum: This position requires a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Certification. This position requires a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience as a police officer, armed security guard, corrections officer or related experience. The person hired must have a concealed gun carry permit and appropriate current licenses required by law or state regulation. Computer knowledge and experience with word processing, database, and spreadsheet programs. Must be at least 18 years of age. Persons hired into this position must be licensed drivers and have reliable transportation. If current license is from out-of-state, a valid Colorado Driver's License is required within ten days of hire. Background check, drug and alcohol check, reference check, and motor vehicle checks must be passed. Current motor vehicle insurance is required. Driving is an essential job duty.

    Preferred: EMT or First Responder certification

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly sit, walk, and stand. Occasionally, movement that requires twisting at the neck and/or trunk more than the average person, squatting/ stooping/kneeling, reaching above the head, and forward motion will be required. The employee will continuously be required to repeat the same hand, arm, or finger motion many times. Manual and finger dexterity are essential to this position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, depth perception and telling differences among colors. The employee must be able to communicate through speech with clients and public. Hearing requirements include conversation in both quiet and noisy environments. The employee will occasionally lift and/or push and pull up to 50 pounds. Lifting may require floor to waist, waist to shoulder, or shoulder to overhead movement. This position demands tolerance for various levels of stress.

    The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Working conditions normally involves inside environments, but also includes work in an outside environment. This position requires working irregular or extended work hours.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Able to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos. Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, manuals, or governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, managers, employees, individuals in service, individuals in service parents, and/or the general public is required.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Able to apply basic mathematical skills to include concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Able to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    REASONING ABILITY: Able to deal with problems involving a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations. Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Able to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Able to perform duties in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
