POSITION SUMMARY
The Associate Director Accounting, is responsible for overseeing the preparation and submission of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations. This role ensures compliance with internal controls, leads preparation of financial statements, including internal financial reporting packages, and provides strategic insights to senior leadership through financial analysis and reporting.
The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented accounting professional with technical knowledge, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with finance, legal, and operations teams in a fast-paced, public company environment
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Reporting
- Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K), and other regulatory filings.
- Manage the external audit process, including coordination with auditors and preparation of audit schedules.
- Oversee the monthly and quarterly general ledger close process to ensure completeness, accuracy, and timely reporting of financial results.
- Prepare reporting packages and related footnote disclosures for SEC filings.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Collaborate with FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting processes, systems, and internal controls.
- Support FP&A executive leadership with ad hoc reporting and analysis.
Technical Accounting
- Support the Director of Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting in developing accounting policies and maintaining a library of accounting position papers.
- Monitor and interpret new accounting standards; assess implications and drive implementation efforts as needed.
- Prepare and/or review JE, reconciliations and related schedules for technical accounting areas (including but not limited to leases, debt, capitalized software)
- Implement a lease accounting system, ensure accurate classification, and coordinate with Real Estate and FP&A teams on updates and reconciliations.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with FP&A, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and external auditors to ensure alignment across accounting and reporting activities.
- Support budget-to-actual analysis for alignment with FP&A and regular reporting to executives.
- Provide accounting guidance to business and functional leaders to support informed decision-making.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES
This position manages the following positions on a daily basis.
- This position will not have management responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- CPA required.
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience, including at least 3 years in public accounting (Big 4 or equivalent) and experience in a public company environment.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
- Proven ability to research, document, and communicate complex accounting conclusions.
- Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with ERP and reporting systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Experience with lease accounting systems (e.g., CoStar, LeaseQuery) and SEC reporting platforms (e.g., Workiva).
- Experience in the life sciences or medical technology industry.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across functions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
