The Facilities Manager is responsible for topside structural and process maintenance of facilities within the framework of Talos Energy policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable regulations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position will be responsible for topsides facilities maintenance of various Deepwater platforms within Talos Energy’s Western Asset team, including managing a team of engineers and supporting staff. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Manage and lead a team of engineers, construction superintendents, process engineers and supporting staff by creating an environment of clear communication and team goals while managing company deadlines and expectations.
- Provide leadership and technical guidance for construction maintenance, process train evaluation and optimization, mechanical integrity and facility life extensions for offshore GOA assets
- Provide leadership and technical guidance for minor facility capital projects (<$5mm) and process optimization on existing facilities for offshore GOA assets.
- Perform facilities engineering support for one or more assigned facilities in Deepwater GOA
- Plan, develop, coordinate and review construction and engineering processes within GOA Operations business line.
- Oversee the process and preparation of cost estimates and project execution in accordance with project scope, budget and schedule.
- Propose and manage process and facility expense budgets, maintenance schedules and facility studies.
- Establish and administer project performance evaluations.
- Participate a minimum of once per year on industry boards and committees to provide leadership and experience in developing industry standards, influence regulatory guidelines, and understand upcoming changes to regulations and standards.
- Promote and participate in innovative process equipment developments and alternatives.
- Assist with regulatory submittals (e.g. BSEE, USCG, and ABS) and technical code equivalencies.
- Supervise and add technical support where necessary in;
- Developing or altering standard project specifications to meet specific project requirements.
- Perform technical quality checking of facility drawings and other documents. Verify correctness of design and engineering data.
- Sizing calculations for process equipment, piping, in-line instruments, valves, and pipelines using company developed tools.
- Review and approve key engineering drawings and calculations, including field and design documents relating to the discipline.
- Gather data, including site surveys and existing conditions data to facilitate accurate design bases.
- Development and oversight of drawings and piping and instrument diagrams (P&IDs)
- Review designs for efficiency of construction, use of materials, integrity and practicality of design.
- Provide Supplier/Vendor selection expertise, review vendor/fabricator quotations.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in offshore facilities and construction
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- Experience supervising staff
- Field operations experience
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:
- Experience and knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods and materials in the Offshore Facilities/Process discipline.
- Experience and knowledge of codes and standards associated with oil and gas production facilities and equipment installations (i.e. API, ASME, ANSI, NFPA,...) and BSEE regulations.
- A strong sense of integrity and the ability to deal with ethical situations effectively.
- Demonstrated capability to handle complex and concurrent projects with multiple facets.
- Technical competence in facilities engineering design and construction skill areas for offshore topsides production, utilities and injection systems.
- Ability to lead/direct engineering projects, lead project meetings, and meet with partners to solve problems.
- Able to organize and prioritize a diverse and heavy workload.
- Communicate effectively and coordinate project work with other disciplines as applicable, such as Regulatory, Reservoir, Operations, Production, and Construction groups.
- Proficient in software applications used in the industry for your discipline.
- Willing to travel to vendor offices, operations field locations, and industry conferences, typically once or twice a month.
- Perform offshore site visits every ___ on a regular frequency.
- Recognize personal strengths and weaknesses and be proactive in self-development.
- Willing to work a demanding and flexible schedule as well as monitoring offshore operations and construction activities on weekends and holidays.
CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:
- A current professional license in an engineering discipline, from a State licensing board and PMP certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
- Ability to travel without limitation, including airplanes, helicopters and boats and use of swing ropes.
- Ability to move freely on offshore platforms , including stairs ladders, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Endure extreme weather conditions, hazardous atmospheres.
