How You’ll Contribute

As a Carpenter with Gardner Builders, you will play a hands-on role in constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures on commercial construction projects. Your attention to detail, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence will help us deliver a best-in-class experience for our clients and project partners.


  • Construct, erect, install, and repair various structures using hand and power tools
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, or building plans to determine layout, dimensions, and materials
  • Assemble and fasten materials using appropriate tools and fasteners
  • Install doors, frames, cabinetry, paneling, millwork, and hardware
  • Arrive on-site with proper hand tools and job-appropriate clothing
  • Uphold all safety procedures, utilize PPE, and maintain a clean work environment
  • Represent Gardner with professionalism and pride in your appearance and behavior


What You’ll Bring

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in carpentry; 5+ years preferred
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • Journeyman Carpenter status preferred
  • General knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, and equipment
  • Understanding of jobsite safety practices and proper use of PPE
  • Skilled in the use and care of various hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and ability to envision the full scope of a task
  • Clear and professional communication skills
  • Ability to perform manual labor and operate safely in a physically demanding environment
  • Familiarity with smartphones and the ability to use digital tools on-site

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: This is a union position covered under the Carpenters Local 344 agreement. Union benefits, including healthcare and pension, are provided in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement. Weekly pay + discretionary bonus provided.

Interview Process

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • This is a full-time, in-person role based in Milwaukee, WI. 
  • This role requires sustained physical activity and the ability to work comfortably in a variety of job site conditions. 
  • You’ll regularly walk, stand, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and use your hands and arms in repetitive movements. You must be able to lift, push, pull, or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds and work with tools and equipment such as hand tools, table saws, drill presses, hammers, saws, planers, and ladders. Climbing ladders, working on scaffolding, and maneuvering in tight or elevated spaces may be necessary, and physical exertion should be expected throughout the day. 
  • Visual and auditory awareness is essential for safety and communication. 
  • While performing these duties, you may be exposed to various weather conditions including heat, cold, and humidity, depending on the season and job site. Renovation work may involve exposure.
