About the Role
The Trauma program nurtures connection and safety in the caregiver-child relationship after experiencing trauma. Children and youth may come into the program via one of three streams: the Outpatient Trauma Clinic, the Trauma and Attachment Group (TAG) or Consultative Services.

The Therapy Support Navigator will:

 
  • Provide direct consultation with families to assess individual needs.
  • Assist with internal/external program referrals and applications.
  • Facilitate psychoeducational parent groups and mental health groups.
  • Provide support to caregivers, identifying problems and possible solutions.
  • Schedule meetings with external care providers and parents as required.
  • Help parents to become advocates for their own children on an ongoing basis.
  • Take part in community or home visits on a case-by-case basis.
  • Attend weekly case conferences and provide updates to the team.
  • Coordinate and organize group therapy and reflecting team schedules.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, child and youth care, early childhood education or a related discipline such as psychology or social sciences.
  • Practical experience in a children’s mental health treatment setting.
  • Two years of experience with navigation/transitions.

Conditions of Employment
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search. This would be the financial responsibility of the successful candidate.
  • A satisfactory Child Intervention Check.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA), as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
