About the Department
The Training Specialist develops, provides, and coordinates new and ongoing training for all public assistance programs (SNAP, cash programs, Medicaid) coordinated by the Benefits and Community Support Division.
Please note: Two (2) years of experience in a directly related field, including one (1) year of experience equivalent to that of a Community Support Specialist II or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities in a Human Services program, is required to be considered for this position.
Position Duties
What you'll be doing:
- Developing and delivering training on assistance program rules, procedures, and systems.
- Assessing trainee performance, providing documentation and feedback to staff, supervisors, and managers.
- Coaching staff during classroom and on-the-job training.
- Exercising indirect supervision and coordinating the work of assigned staff.
- Correcting applications for Colorado Works, SNAP, Medicaid, and Adult Financial programs.

What we're looking for:
- Ability to interpret, analyze, and apply specialized rules, regulations, policies, and procedures accurately, including those from State Staff Manuals.
- Familiarity with state computer systems and proficiency in routine business software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present facts and conclusions clearly and concisely.
- Proficiency in research techniques and using internal and external data sources.
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries within a large agency structure.
- Sound judgment in evaluating complex situations, rules, regulations, and policies.
- Skill in facilitating groups of various sizes and resolving individual and group concerns.
- Knowledge of basic supervisory principles, including training, evaluation, and adapting instruction to different learning styles.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, with prior lead work experience preferred.

- Two (2) years experience in a directly related field, including one (1) year of experience equivalent to that of a Community Support Specialist II or in the performance of similar duties and responsibilities in a human services program required.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred.

Other Qualifications
This position is a hybrid position. Facilitating a new-hire training class will require working on-site at least 3 days/week. When not facilitating a class, the position requires being in the office at least one day/week. You will be required to have adequate internet access and space for remote work. Larimer County provides a one-time remote work stipend to assist with equipment and office supply needs for remote workspaces.
In-office work could be performed at one of the following three locations: 1501 Blue Spruce Drive, Fort Collins, CO; 2555 Midpoint Drive, Fort Collins, CO; 200 Peridot Avenue, Loveland, CO
All new employees and rehires will be required to submit fingerprints for a CBI criminal background check (c.r.s. 26-6-104).
