Are you an engineer at heart? Someone who wants to take responsibility for the largest streaming guide in the world and the platform that powers it?
We’re JustWatch. Boring technology, hard problems. Golang, VueJS, Postgres, Kubernetes, Prometheus on GCP. We use more specialised tools where we need them. We’re searching for an engineer who follows first principles and focuses on business value over elaborate processes. You place bets and end up with more wins than fails. Wherever you fail, you own it and learn from it in a blameless culture. You go bold, with strong opinions, loosely held.
Attitude over aptitude. We hire potential and results first. You should be able to explain what you did in plain English. You lead with a service attitude, honest communication, and a pragmatic mindset. You won’t grow the number of direct reports just to fill a management chart. You’ll lead a small team of SREs and level up their game. Your mindset is to grow the company. The rest follows naturally.
This isn’t a 9-to-5 job. While you’ll find one of the smoothest-running shops with around one hundred fully observable services in production, things will go down occasionally, and it’ll be your job to coordinate incident response.
You can stay on the fine line between promoting cutting-edge technology to developers and running a stable ship when in doubt. You’re not waiting to be told how an engineering platform should look; you tell us.
