The Accounting Intern position provides valuable exposure to journal entries, account reconciliations, inventory transactions, and financial reporting processes. The internship will run approximately from May through August.
Responsibilities:- Prepare and post journal entries and perform account reconciliations
- Process daily inventory transactions through the general ledger interface
- Assist with daily cash reporting and other routine accounting functions
- Provide coverage for team members during scheduled vacations
- Perform cleanup and reclassification of fixed asset accounts
- Align fixed asset groups within FAS to corresponding general ledger accounts
- Conduct fixed asset physical inventory and reconciliation activities
- Assist in developing and implementing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Support general ledger upload and reporting processes
- Must be highly motivated, able to follow direction, and perform assigned work duties independently with minimal supervision
- Must be able to speak, listen, and effectively communicate with team members both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to work collaboratively within the department and with multiple departments within the company
- Strong organizational skills and ability to analyze / interpret technical information, mathematical concepts, and form conclusions
- Adherence to the company attendance policy is required, including expectations of punctuality and limited unapproved absences
- Involves extensive computer systems/software operation and regular use of office equipment
- Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Coursework or experience in Cost Accounting and Business Statistics
- Completion of a minimum of four accounting courses
