Position Summary:
A Guard II will conduct regular foot and/or vehicle patrols of assigned buildings, grounds, and perimeter fence lines to prevent and detect signs of intrusion, vandalism, fire, or other safety hazards. This position will involve an element of complexity that requires applying knowledge and experience to analyze situations and provide an appropriate response.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and controlling access points for pedestrians and vehicles entering and exiting the premises, verifying identification, and ensuring only authorized personnel enter restricted areas.
- Responding promptly to alarms, emergency radio calls, and incidents such as accidents, bomb threats, fires, or hostage situations. This may involve moving the public to safety, rendering aid, or detaining individuals until law enforcement arrives.
- Operating surveillance equipment (like CCTV systems), maintaining accurate logs of daily activities and incidents, and preparing detailed written reports to document all occurrences during a shift.
- Ensuring compliance with established security and safety policies, procedures, and rules specific to the facility and regulatory guidelines (e.g., OSHA standards, government regulations).
- Assisting visitors and employees by providing directions and information and maintaining order and proper behavior on the property.
Experience Requirements:
- Relevant experience in security, law enforcement, or military service.
- Ability to obtain and maintain necessary security licenses or government clearances (e.g., Common Access Card).
- Strong communication, observational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively to emergencies.
Education Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Physical Demands:
- The role may require physical stamina, including walking or standing for long periods, both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions, and potentially lifting up to 35 lbs.
