Summary 

The Manager/Sr Manager Regulatory role supports Denali’s vision to become the “go to” sweet ingredient solutions supplier with innovative products and solutions for our customers. The Manager, Regulatory will be the in-house expert for all regulatory requirements within Denali Ingredients. The role is responsible for translating regulatory requirements into business solutions as well as proactively ensuring that the company is current and compliant with all regulatory guidelines related to ingredients, finished goods, and supporting communications. The scope of the role includes providing regulatory support throughout the NPD commercialization process, as well as keeping the company abreast of new regulations and their implications to the business. This role will support cross-functional teams including but not limited to R&D, Quality, Operations, and Sales.  This role is a member of the Commercial Team at Denali Ingredients.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design of new product development by providing regulatory expertise on labeling and claims development and restrictions.
  • Timeline development and task prioritization with minimal guidance, utilizing inputs from current new opportunities and existing manufactured products.
  • Develop and maintain ingredient supplier approval and assessment processes and programs documentation. 
  • Review and keep current all in house finished product specifications and artwork files.
  • Manage system and business processes for ensuring full compliance with company standards and FDA requirements.
  • Ensure regulatory business processes support speed to commercialization initiatives as well as change management initiatives.
  • Manage regulatory programs including, but not limited to: Kosher, Halal, Organic, Gluten Free, and sustainability organizations. Provide coverage and support during regulatory audits.
  • Proactively research, learn, and interpret regulatory initiatives, trends, and pending legislation at the state and national levels and develop points of view on impact Denali Ingredients. Initiate programs to commercially support new and changing legislation as appropriate.
  • Manage team of specialists for raw material and finished goods support.
  • Identify and resolve regulatory issues.
  • Develop and implement systems and business processes to organize and document regulatory compliance.
  • Other duties as required.

Education and/or Experience

  • 5+ years of increasing responsibility in a regulatory role for a food manufacturer.
  • BS in food science, biological sciences, nutrition, or related field required. 
  • Exceptional knowledge of FDA and other relevant regulations.

  • Supervises current staff of two and recurring summer intern.

  • Organizational and Strong Communication skills and abilities. 
  • Abilities in Microsoft suite (Power Point, Excel, Word).

  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively. 
  • Initiative and planning skills and abilities a must.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.


The employee must be able to work with and around all major allergens (milk, eggs, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, soybeans, and sesame) including sensory analysis.
