Job Objective:
The Team Lead will focus on onboarding, staff development, program oversight and compliance. The Team Lead will be detail oriented while bringing excellent organizational, communication, management, leadership, and problem-solving skills to the WIOA program. The Team Lead will also provide direct oversight of follow-up activities that facilitate successful retention by youth participants in Lake, Porter and LaPorte counties and will ensure the program meets guidelines for the Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA). This position reports to the Youth Director who evaluates performance annually.
Essential Job Functions:
- Knows and understands the Goodwill Mission: “Strengthen communities by empowering individuals and families through education, training and job placement.”
- Ensures that all assigned programs are in compliance with all program components and all contract expectations, including data, and WIOA expectations.
- Monitor metrics to ensure WIOA program is meeting or exceeding performance metrics and objectives.
- Facilitate interviews for Career Advisors and conduct onboarding of new staff. Handle disciplinary issues of assigned specialist and documenting all disciplinary warnings, as necessary.
- Ensure staff members understand how to perform their jobs well and have opportunities to further develop their skills. This includes training on workforce development related skills and regulatory requirements.

- Reviews and verifies youth eligibility documents prior to enrollment.
- Maintain and build effective relationships with all staff.
- Maintain files with the computer databases ensuring documentation is available to support program eligibility and services received.
- Maintain knowledge of and communication with other community agencies, programs and training offered. Appropriately refer individuals to community and partner agencies.
- Work with other WorkOne staff as needed to continuously engage the customer through his/her attainment of employment goal, placement and post exit follow up for retention.
- Assist with special projects such as specialized outreach programs to target groups and development of new skills and training activities.
- Develop activities available to customers to enhance their skills, including basic skills development, customer service, computer skills, and job search skills.
- Maintain strict confidentiality at all times when handling sensitive information.
- Maintain knowledge of and communication with other community agencies, programs and training offered. Appropriately refer individuals to community and partner agencies.
- Work with other WorkOne staff as needed to continuously engage the customer through his/her attainment of employment goal, placement, and post exit follow-up for retention.
- Complete quarterly follow- up for one-year post exit.
- Submit required reports in a timely manner.
- Contribute in team member role(s) to ensure WorkOne Center performance standards are met and/or exceeded, and compliance with Federal, State, and WorkOne Center rules and regulations.
- Promote WorkOne products and resources to customers, including Work Ready Program.
- Supervise Goodwill staff and complete performance reviews as scheduled.
- Be knowledgeable of policies, procedures, goals, and objectives of assigned programs.
- Participate in intradepartmental meetings, as necessary.
- Support other staff as needed.
- Continually seeks and accepts opportunities for professional growth.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field.
- Two years related experience.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent counseling skills.
- Excellent listening skills.
- Ability and knowledge of interpreting assessments.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Excellent data entry skills.
- Knowledge of regional education and training offerings, including Adult Education Centers.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
- Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and provide proof of insurance to travel to different job sites.
